We need to complete what we started for football and then upgrade basketball. You improve your two revenue producing sports first. YMF needs a complete overhaul but baseball should be behind football and basketball. Yes I am aware of the other improvements being made to the other sports and they are all needed but you need to take care of your revenue producers first. That’s admin 101.

Without football all of the other sports are screwed.
Even in basketball we are screwed unless football advances us.

Is that really accurate though? Basketball has carried several programs to better conferences. I'm not saying that it is, but football could always end up being a money suck rather than a revenue generator. It's definitely the most costly program to run.

I'm at a loss to name one Basketball only power South of the Potomac. I would wager that even Kentucky, Duke & UNC make more off of Football than they do with their criminal basketball programs. Football is king here & unfortunately probably always will be.

VCU is the best example I've got for our region. I think I'm looking at FYE2017 (might be 2016) data, but they reported $8.8M in revenue. I thought for sure you were incorrect about your bball blue blood point, but it mostly rings true.

In Millions
School...Football Rev...Bball Rev
Louisville...42.1...44.0
Kentucky...36.4...28.0
Duke...34.0...34.4
UNC...41.2...21.4

Non-P5/Big East programs with good bball revenue and no/bad football:
Dayton $14.0
UConn $13.8
Gonzaga $12.1
VCU $8.8
Wichita State $7.4
SDSU $6.5
UNLV $5.9
Nevada $5.7
UMass $5.3

RE: Status of Athletics & Expectations Going Forward: Baseball
The financial support for university sports in our two P5 programs illustrates what sport pays the bills. According to the last published accounts, the two school's Athletic Departments receive about $300 million in annual contributions of which 2/3 is alloted to football (about $100 million annually). They know where the "butter is coming from for their bread". Both school's report spending an average of about $200,000 annually per athlete in their various sports programs.

Whatever amount the Athletic Department CHOOSES not to spend on its facilities, athletes and staff salaries is annually turned over to that school's General Scholarship Fund. To my knowledge, that latter amount has never been published - probably for good reasons.
