The track and softball stadium will be relocating to the WHS site. The original plan called for a hotel/convention center complex, parking deck and some restaurants under a public/private partnership. That designation we falls well within the Millennial designation. The town has been without convention center ever since the Broyhill was closed.

I'll be sad to see Legends go. It's rare that a university has a 1,000 capacity concert venue on campus that students choose, book, and execute concerts in. Lot of good times in there. And the fact that a university owned venue allowed a 6 pack BYOB policy for concerts was so cool.

And actual good bands like the Roan Mountain Hilltoppers. They did a few contra dances over the past few years. Unfortunately, The Birchfield's have seen many of their loved ones leave the earth. Only one from this recording remains, Janice. She's an awesome gutbucket/washtub player. Sid Viscious and Johnny Rotten visited the family in the 80s because of their trance-inducing music. Eminen sampled them. Boy George also randomely showed up at their door. I met them while camping on Watauga Lake in 2001. God bless the Roan Mountain Hilltoppers.
