I'm a long time reader, and this is my first post. I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could find the basketball schedule and any info on Speraw's new contract. Thanks

No word of a complete 2004-2005 schedule yet, but I do know that UCF will play in the BP Top of the World Classic. UCF will take on Alaska-Fairbanks in the first game and will play either Utah State or Georgia Southern in the next round. Other schools participating in the tournament include Northwestern, Portland, Western Michigan, and New Mexico State.

As for Speraw's contract extension . . . no word yet as far as I'm aware. Unless Steve Orsini has a better candidate in mind (would we have the money to pay a higher profile head coach?), he'd better give Speraw a long-term contract. Considering that Speraw hasn't been able to promise his recruits that he'd be around for more than a season or two, he's done a marvelous job.

Thanks for the help, I didn't know Northwestern was going to replace Mississippi State in the Top of the World Classic. I'm gonna be so pissed if orsini lets speraw go. He recruited 3 good juco power forwards, and 3 guard transfer for next year.

I thought the local news said he received the extension a month ago.... Maybe I'm wrong....

Yeah, I heard a rumor like that too, but Orsini said something like the lawyers still have to dot the I's. Nothing's happened since. I think Orsini won't give Speraw what he wants, but Speraw isn't ready to leave. I hope they get it worked out.
