RE: Scotus rules against forced public union fees
The whining begins...I do love it so.
Quote:Public employee unions howled in outrage on Wednesday over the Supreme Court’s ruling that government workers can’t be forced to contribute to labor unions — a costly financial blow to organized labor.
“The Supreme Court majority is nothing but a bunch of Pinkertons in black robes,” thundered Transport Workers Union Local 100 President Tony Utano, referring to the private detective firm that was often hired by union-busting fat cats during the 20th century’s labor wars.
“As expected, they are helping right-wing politicians and greedy corporate executives who want to bust unions and silence workers,” added Utano, whose union represents about 45,000 workers, the majority of whom work on the MTA’s subway and bus systems.
Michael Mulgrew, president of the powerful United Federation of Teachers, slammed the 5-4 decision in Janus v. AFSCME as part of a larger effort to “rig the system” against union members.
“The Janus decision reflects years of scheming by forces desperate to destroy workers’ rights and to undermine public education. These people think that their money, power and privilege give them the right to rig the system in their favor,” said Mulgrew, whose UFT had already prepared plans to slash its $182 million annual budget, as The Post reported last September.
The 187,000-member UFT collects $56 twice monthly from each teacher’s paycheck via automatic payroll deductions.

That is why Rauner did this. Why does a public worker need a union in the first place? The whole thing was a slush fund.
