Take that for what it’s worth. If he gets his grades straightened out, we will have a heck of a steal on our roster.
Agree has he signed?

RE: Andre Rafus
After skimming TCU and Kansas board it appears there are some interesting things:
1. His grades -- had the offer but when schools found out they didn't think it was worth the risk.
2. Apparently, the way recruiting happens in Baltimore is sketchy and the people/friends that were associated with him and were involved in the process with were not great people.
He might have had offers, but those schools basically didn't tell him "we actually don't want you" and was recruited over.
Let's hope, for once, he sticks with us and we can at least use him for this year. Here's to hoping he grows up and matures. I think his twitter has hungry and humble, let's hope that's the case. If he comes in and plays and matures to his potential, we can compete with Buffalo. Matt Cline or whatever assistant coaches only job should be to be his mentor. I hope JT and Minnie can help him out and lead him.

What is interesting is that recruiting is much, much more complicated and sometimes convoluted than folks on forums thinks.
This stuff is a lot more complicated than Mary Smith, a honor student, seeking a big dollar scholarship from State U.
Sometimes the ability of a mid-major to move to the next level is dependent on its ability above its level.
I'm thinking of an Akron PF from years ago. I'm trying to remember his name. EMU recruited him but said 'no way' would he ever see the court. He shows up at Akron and becomes a very good player. An EMU coach says, "How did they ever get him in school..."
First team all-MAC player. Akron got him. EMU did not.

Wonder if Timmy’s Baltimore influence had any impact on us getting him.

RE: Andre Rafus
Maybe because of the hair (mostly?) but he reminds me of Kelly Oubre of the Wizards. Then I looked at the listed sizes and Rafus is 3" inches taller. :)
I always thought that a 6' 10" small forward is an oxymoron. How tall is a 'large' forward?

Once again here is his You Tube video:

I don't want to get ahead of my skis, but do I see NBA potential? Size is really there. Shot, too.
Steve, now we need to pump the brakes just s little. Let's get him on campus, get him added to the roster, and get him elgible before NBA talk :-)
Okay, I'll wait until he plays a game vs. Rochester and has 5 dunks... Then I'll go go full 'Sunshine Steve."

@emu79, I don't care who loses a scholarship if this kid still has all of this talent.
How much do we need to pay him? jk

RE: Andre Rafus
BTW, I'm hoping Rafus does something we've not had under Murphy: A small forward with great range, quick shot, etc. etc.
If Rafus is making the 3-ball, his man can not collapse on JT4, giving him (JT4) room to work inside. And if Minnie can make a few, we have completely stretched the front court out
If JT4 gets room to work inside his PPG can go up 5 per game based on a lot of easy points in the paint. NO one in the MAC contains JT4 for 35 minutes one on one.

I think this is his most recent highlight package. Honestly, he looks like a left-handed Minnie. Even has a similar pump fake. The end of the clip showed some pretty solid defensive instincts too. If he adapts quickly to the 2-3 zone, he'll probably start right away. Having two Elijah Minnies on the court will be tough for opposing defenses, to say the least.

Lol. He never will. Michigan players probably aren't even allowed to play pick-up against us, lest someone find out the score.

This would be a good season to get another crack at MSU, especially if it can be super early in the OOC season. They looked hopeless against Syracuse in the round of 32, plus they lost most of their front court. I'd like our chances to at least be competitive with them.
