Exclamation Been looking at this backwards
I've seen numerous proposals for sending 2 ACC teams to the SEC in order to allow the ACC to add 4 or more Big XII teams - but with a huge geographic gap, of course.

I think we've been looking at this backwards. It's not the ACC that hungers for Big XII teams - it's the SEC! What if the SEC sent one or more teams to the ACC, allowing it to add more Big XII teams?

In the simplest scenario, the SEC sends just one team to the ACC: South Carolina. The ACC also collects WVU from the Big XII to get to 16 teams. Meanwhile, the SEC (now at 13), adds Texas, OU and OSU for 16 of their own. The divisions might look like this:

SEC
LSU Kentucky
Texas Ole Miss
Texas AM Miss St
Oklahoma Alabama
Okie St Auburn
Arkansas Georgia
Missouri Florida
Vanderbilt Tennessee

ACC
Miami BC
Florida St Syracuse
Ga Tech Pitt
Clemson WVU
S Carolina Louisville
N Carolina Virginia
NC State Va Tech
Duke Wake

That leaves Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, K State and Iowa State behind - but I don't see any Big Ten teams in that list. DONE DEAL!

The problem with this approach is the ACC revenue. The SEC prides itself in never having expelled a member or having asked one to leave. Therefore whether it was Vanderbilt, Kentucky, or South Carolina they would first have to want to leave on their own. I'm saying it would have to be their desire to do so. Until the ACC can at least make payouts equal to, or in the vicinity of, those of the SEC I simply can't foresee this happening.

That is truly why it hasn't been discussed, at least not seriously.

BTW: Should we ever merge into a league of 32 to 40 schools these kinds of issues would become moot.

Totally understood... ESPN would have to guarantee that SC (and/or whoever) would get at least as they were getting in the SEC before the realignment... after the realignment I expect the SEC would make more, but at least it would be "close" as you say.
