These appointed BoR could make some horrendous decisions that are not in EMU's long term benefits and goals. Athletically - I am still scratching my head why Rynearson was updated with a track around it (yes, I know because we saved money by not having a separate track but it was a bad, bad decision!!!) Academically we've been slow to respond in high demand degree programs such as medicine and engineering. Dr. Smith is seemingly trying to sheperd us in the right direction. We need to link ourselves to the autonomous vehicle development especially since a validation center is in our backyard.
How do you think Scott Wetherbe is doing? I am very luke warm by what he's done so far.
Getting back to our BoR, we have two seats opening up, so I guess I'll write Snyder's office and ask him to appoint regents with a medical and engineering background.
You realize there is a governor election this fall?

RE: What o you think of our EMU BOR?
I think our BoR is weird.
Ordinarily, the boards just rubber stamp what happens. The administration just runs the university.
Here, we've seen our regents fire Presidents.
There are members who really care about EMU and its students.
They have done a great job creating opportunities. Look up their coatings department, for example.
