RE: ODU joins the AAC*
Not that I care one way or the other but there is a completely logical alignment of competitors. Central Florida, San Diego State, UConn, Sacramento State, Southern Methodist, Temple, and Tulsa will meet at a neutral site for the conference championships, Lake Superior.

RE: ODU joins the AAC*
I don't think the AAC is expanding anytime soon since realignment looks dead for a few years unless Boise or BYU wants to join up which is unlikely.
But if it happens I always thought that ODU and UAB would be a natural fit as long as y'all could step it up a notch in bball and football.
According to the AAC board, P6 stickers aren't given out to associate members, lol and j/k

I know zero about rowing, but Lake Superior is only 4 hrs away from me and routinely gets huge waves. People even surf it. Is that really the site of the conference championship?

I think that was facetiousness (is that even a word?) Though since all the schools are in the southern half of the country, maybe Lake Pontchartrain or Lake Okeechobee would be more fitting.

Hey, I guess that means our AD has to hob knob with the other AAC ADs, so the relationship building can't hurt. Then again, we are in the Big East for field Hockey and they haven't given us a call to join since the Jarrat turned them down in the 80s.

I don't think the Big East is going to come calling until we become a private catholic school and drop football.

Hey, don't be negative. Anything's possible.

I would drop football down to 1AA independent in a second if it meant getting our basketball in the Big East.

I honestly cannot tell if you are being serious or not. Even if we dropped football, we have about a 0.0001% chance of getting invited to the Big East for basketball. I got that number from Giles.

Yes it is a word and it was. And a damn fine word to boot.

Wonder if they were motivated to make the move since there's a good chance we could host the tournament instead of trekking to the great lakes.

I think the private/Catholic thing is far more important than football. If Boston College or Notre Dame asked for an invitation, they'd get it without a moment's hesitation. UConn is the only public school with a reasonable chance of getting in Big East (if they wanted it) and that's because of the long-term institutional history it has with the likes of Georgetown, Villanova, Providence, Seton Hall and St. John's.
