Mellow Yellow
Mello might still can shoot the rock but everyone saw how the Knicks went down. Arguably he didn't really fit well with OKC. Not he's just a pass around the league player because of lack of defense.

Yeah, Melo can still help a team with his scoring, though his defense will really be a liability in the playoffs, which is why the Thunder left him on the bench so much in the playoffs. In the playoffs, when you focus on one opponent for a series instead of a different team every game, it's much easier to work on finding the opponent's weakest link on defense and attacking that player over and over.

As if the NBA didn't have the vibe of already being rigged somewhat... now they are partnering with the casinos.

Still 10 more weeks until the regular season starts... the NBA has given us some solid reasons to go into the other room and watch games on Christmas day while relatives are in the other room arguing about which of them has a nicer house or is more popular.

Interesting.... I know the NBA likes to start Christmas day .... and make it akin to the NFL on Thanksgiving Day..... but I have never really watched the NBA on Christmas--even when I was more into the NBA regular season games back in the day.
I did enjoy the NFL on Thanksgiving and watch it "more" but two things kind of hurt me on that one later on..... work..... retail and the TDAT... can't stay up late to watch the games and two, ALWAYS seeing the Cowboys and the Lions no matter what. I do like that they are now up to 3 games now and they are doing better about the matchups.

NBA on Christmas works for the same reason as the NFL on Thanksgiving. Lots of sports fans stuck inside their house, or someone else's house, for most of the day.

LOL.... the puppet coach gets let go.... I hope LeBron finds a job for him.
Cavs ownership ordered Lue to tank the season by benching the vets, and Lue wouldn't go along with it.
Quote:Sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst that Lue recently had a disagreement with Altman over playing veterans. Altman preferred that Kyle Korver and JR Smith be taken out of the rotation to give time to younger players. After one game in which they didn't play, Lue put both back in the rotation without consulting Altman.

He wouldn't have been told that if last years coach and gm, LeBron, was still there

RE: 2018-19 NBA Thread
Cleveland had to deal with that as the price for getting LeBron back from Miami. LeBron knew that Gilbert & Co. are a clown show.
And that's a factor the NY media overlooks when they drool over Durant. Knicks management is just as bad as Cleveland's. KD may very well want to go to a team where he will be the undisputed leader, but there are many teams he could choose that are not run by bozos.

Who will have a better record at the end of the season? LA or Cleveland?

OK, where's Anthony Davis going? Knowing the assets Boston will have once Irving opts out, New Orleans would be nuts to deal with anyone else. The only reason I can see for NO to talk to anyone other than Boston is MAYBE if Ainge says e.g. Tatum is off the table. Even then, I think Boston still has the better assets - just not by such a huge margin. Which begs the question: Why is NO shopping him now?

They're shopping him now because AD's trade request became public today.
The Pelicans should get a solid commitment from the Celtics as to who they would put in a package for AD if the deal is made in July. If the commitment doesn't include Tatum -- IMO it should include Tatum and Brown and at least one lottery pick -- then the Pelicans should tell Ainge that he runs the risk that AD will be gone before the Celtics have a chance.
If you're running another team, let's use the Lakers as an example, then you want to make sure that even if you don't get the Brow that you drive up the price so high that the Celtics have to give up a massive amount to get him. Lakers should be offering Kuzma, Ball, Ingram, Zubac, and two first round picks (maybe leave out one or two of those components in the initial offer, but put all of those pieces on the table before the February trade deadline). That might not be enough to get the deal done but it's certainly enough to force Boston to include both Tatum and Brown in their offer, or maybe Tatum and two lottery picks at the least.
