RE: Tony Pollard Pre-season All American
In my opinion the Tigers should start a low key heisman promotion for Tony just to bring him to the attention of sports writers. Especially sports writers at major national publications, and sports broadcasters on major national networks. Set the table for next year when Tony might be going for some records. his all purpose yards will grow plenty this year since Anthony and Phil graduated. I also think Tony should have gotten more touches at running back against Iowa St last year. Patrick Taylor carried the whole load when Henderson came up lame and couldn't play. Tony has demonstrated his effectiveness at running back. A player who excels at three positions (kick returner, reciever, and running back) on a double digit win team, with legitimate New Years bowl and national playoff consideration might just be the best player in college football,04-jawdrop

Would like to see him run back two early in the season and break the career record. That way he would not be pressing all year trying to get record.

i am not certain, but i am pretty sure Tony is in the moment on each run back. All of them are an opportunity for him to make a play and help his team. Records are broken all the time, Shattering records and establishing dominance doesn't happen for guy who are pressing. It happens for truly gifted and prepared athletes. Tony is among those players, his record will be a fitting period for the end of kickoff returns. Enjoy it while we can, we can only hope they don't change the college game before 2020.

I wish they would let him return punts also. I'm sorry but Pop Williams just doesn't do it for me on punt returns. It seems like he rarely ever actually returns many after fair catching or not touching the ball, and when he does it's nothing special. However on kickoffs I'm literally excited waiting to see what Tony Pollard is going to do

Depending on how big of a cog he is in the regular offense we could see his days of kick returning end this year. If he becomes a go to guy each down then they will cut back on his kick returns to keep him fresh for plays from scrimmage.

Can you say Calvin Austin? If he is not redshirted.

RE: Tony Pollard Pre-season All American
Probably goes without saying, but returning punts and returning kicks are two totally different things. Kicks, you get up field fast and look for the seam created by the blocking scheme. Punts, you're largely on your own with field position and ball control at stake. Speed is more important on kicks. Quickness on punts.

Tony can probably do both, but no need with the talent we're accumulating and with his upcoming value on offense.

Nobody is going to kick it o the guy this year. He won't get many shots at returns, the team needs to be ready for short kicks all season.

He didn't get many shots last year and still managed 4 TD's. His attempts decreased from 38 to 22. He's putting up crazy numbers in return game!

Henderson needs to be taken off special teams this season

RE: Tony Pollard Pre-season All American
Pop will get a lot more catches this year, as will all with Miller gone. Man was Miller good.

Pollard first team with Phil Steele magazine too!

He picks UCF and Memphis as division winners again. Does point out we were plus 15 in turnovers last year which sometimes sets up for a drop the next season as those numbers usually creep more towards the norm. Without looking it up, I only remember the Navy and maybe the UCLA game being close games where we had turnover edges. Could be wrong.
