Every time I post in this thread I look for the Hockey puck icon and it's still never there...c'mon GTS, have a heart.

Anyway, St. Louis wasted their best opportunity in game 6, as I said. Didn't get the job done. Kudos to the Bruins for not giving up...now it's anyone's game, except Boston has never hosted a game 7 Stanley Cup Final game before, and the atmosphere is going to be tough for the visitors to overcome. Still happy either way it goes, but will be a fun time, that's fer shure, totally.

I'm just sitting down in front of the TV at the start of the 2nd period: SLB up 2-0. I've been thinking all week that in a way, SLB would have less pressure on them in Boston, that the city of St. Louis is maybe too hyped up and a sort of distraction. In all honesty, I figured this would be a 50/50 game: either team could win, flip a coin. (What a great series !!)

If my math is right, in this series each team has won 1 on their ice and lost 2 (or won 2 in the other team's rink).
So St. Louis playing in Boston must be the favorite...right?

This 3rd period is going to be epic. The Bruins are going pedal to the metal for 20 minutes.

Someone tweeted this: Binnington in goal-- like the Geico Walrus !!

It's now 4-0 and Bruin fans are heading for the exits with less than 5 minutes.

Did you miss the 1st? (Wondering cause you said just sitting at start of 2nd). If so, you missed a game that the Blues has no business being close in (forget scoring twice) except for Binnington who kept them not down by 3 or 4 in the first. Goalies can win a Stanley Cup and that is what we are seeing here. He is playing his best game this series today and he has had a few very good ones.

#Binnington4Smythe

(*Ryan O'Reilly wins the Smythe. He earned it. I was hoping for Binnington, but no complaints by me.)

SLB had only 1 penalty tonight & Boston went 0/1 on PP.
SLB outhit (36/28), outblocked (21/7), had fewer giveaways (7/13), & almost even on faceoffs (49%/51%).
Bruins outshot SLB 33/20. But the only ones that matter are the ones that go in.

Blues get it done.

They'd have lost if the Hurricanes had of gotten by the Bruins. :D

Is this their first cup?

If the Avs couldn't win the Cup, I'm happy to see a Western Conference team win. Ryan O'Reilly was drafted 10 years ago by the Avalanche wins the Conn Smythe. The Cup hoisted in the air during the celebration is the best thing to watch in all of sports.

In addition to the 19000 in the Enterprise Center, over 20000 sat in the rain in Busch Stadium. Thousands more in Ballpark Village.

Welp, Blues did a great job. Binnington was top notch. Just an amazing story to go from dead last in the league in January to winning the Cup. Happy for STL, they've had a lot of sports adversity besides the Cards, so good for that city.

Still would have liked to have seen how Vegas would have handled the Blues, but they were truly a team of destiny this year.

I know you're referring to the Knights, but some guy put $400 on the Blues to win it all in January and got 250-1 odds - he'll be $100K richer now.

I'm still on Cloud 9. Wish I was home in STL for it, but there's a Blues bar in Chicago that was going wild.

RE: 2018-19 NHL Thread
The NHL playoffs were exceptionally awesome this year:

-all four #1 seeds falling in round 1 (especially Tampa Bay- I admit I thought that with their record setting season they were the pre-ordained Stanley Cup champions- I didn't think there would be any drama in the playoffs, just mail the Cup to Tampa and that's that);
-what the Canes did beating the Caps and the Isles;
-the Blues overcoming the hand pass goal and beating the Sharks in 7; then taking on the well-rested Bruins.

The Blues: from worst to first in about 5 months with an interim coach and a nobody goalie. After 52 years they finally get to hoist the Cup in St. Louie.
Unreal.

I root for the Winnipeg Jets, so I was a little disappointed in their first round exit. This was suppose to be Winnipeg's year with all the talent they have, but they ran into a hot Blues team that was hungry for the Cup.

I'm glad St. Louis ended up winning though.

RE: 2018-19 NHL Thread
Blues/Bruins Game 7 was the most watched NHL game on record in US (starts 1994).

St Louis drew a 41.8 - which doesn’t include a soldout Enterprise Center, 25k in a rainy Busch Stadium, etc. - so St Louis was probably close to a 50. Incredible hockey town.
