You could see this one coming from over a mile away. Open borders created problems in Europe that are ongoing and not only threaten security and institutional/cultural assimilation, German Chancellor Merkel is facing collapse of her majority coalition and authority as a direct result. This is a big deal to the legal citizens of Germany as well as the American people concerned about our border security. DEMS should take note if they can just get past the end of their noses...quit politicizing children being separated from families and focus on the short and long term problems of continued open borders. This will be a yuge issue in the 2020 election and will play a role in November as well.

“It’s in Germany’s interest to control immigration in good partnership with our European neighbors,” she told a press conference in Berlin. “Turning people back in an uncoordinated manner… could end up calling into question European integration.”

President Donald Trump weighed in on the debate on Monday, writing in a tweet that “The people of Germany are turning against their leadership as migration is rocking the already tenuous Berlin coalition.”

The flare-up has put Ms. Merkel’s controversial 2015 decision to open Germany’s borders to hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers back at the center of the political debate in the EU’s largest state.

The arrival of some 1.4 million people over three years has scrambled politics in what had been among Europe’s most stable states, boosting support for anti-immigration populists, weakening mainstream parties, and digging a deep rift in Ms. Merkel’s conservative bloc.

Ms. Merkel argued that a unilateral policy would split Europe and prompt political clashes among member states strained by the migration crisis. Mr. Seehofer countered last week that it was the chancellor’s unilateral decision to open Germany’s borders that had fanned immigration fears.

Monday’s uneasy truce averts the threat of an immediate breakdown of the coalition, but it puts Ms. Merkel under pressure to deliver deals with European partners that would allow her government to better steer the flow of migrants into the country by July.

My son has a friend in Germany who came to visit Memphis (because of the music history and culture) two summers ago. Nice guy in his late 20s.

He and his brother say it's BAD over there.

The radleft can point fingers at conservatives and call us all kinds of SJW/PC names in an attempt to masquerade the real issue, but people get it. Not just Americans, but Germans, Brits, Poles, etc.

The next federal elections in Germany have to take place by October 2021. They could, of course, occur much sooner than that if the ruling Merkel coalition collapses, and from across the pond that seems like it could happen any moment. But if early elections do take place, all public polling-data suggests that the parties which want to restrict immigration will enjoy huge increases in the Bundestag. Both Merkel and the main opposition party most definitely do NOT want that to happen. So we may see Merkel hobble along for a while longer.

Eventually, every nation that wants them will have them.

A few smaller countries that willingly abstain from most forms of military influence (New Zealand, Switzerland, etc.) may not want them but these types of weapons will be there for the taking by whoever wants them.

I understand the US Democrats. They want unbridled immigration because they keep losing American voters. But I don't understand the Europeans desire to completely change their countries with mass immigration. Why is it a fall on their sword issue?

For many Europeans, it boils down to Neurosis/Remorse/Guilt about colonialism, imperialism, and all the other isms. For Germans, it’s all that plus the Hitler/Holocaust legacy, too.
