In other news, Ohio State and Michigan just can't wait for the new transfer rule to take effect.

Didn't stop some schools/coaches from trying before. Just more out in the open now.

Article says Cody Thompson is bench pressing nearly 400lbs! That is pretty impressive for someone his size. Nearly double his body weight.

If you ever see him without pads, it's pretty clear that he's got some guns. I'm not surprised he can bench that much.

I would like to see Cody in the wildcat this year. He was a solid high school QB so he would be a triple threat: run, pass and catch.

Could be a great idea. Downside is that unless you are willing to use the wildcat to get some tough yards up the middle or off tackle - in this case with Thompson - it tends to not be as effective. But, another possibility to add to the wildcat option would be to use him in an end around/jet sweep with the option to throw or run. Some good possibilities that I hadn't even thought about until seeing your post.

I think we only used it a couple of times when we had Page.

Desmond Phillips passed for 28 TD's his Jr and Sr seasons in HS.

not a fan of the wildcat to predictable, and Cody has zero experience making decisions of a QB to have him do RPO's. Jet sweeps with any of our 3 studs would be great. With our RB's and if Mitch is our QB running won't be an issue, passing may.

Candle is just the opposite of Amstutz. Tom loved his "gadget" plays. They seldom worked but they at least kept the opposing defenses a bit off balance. Jason hardly ever shows any type of trick play. I think it does not hurt to at least try one oddball play a game. It keeps things interesting for the fans and on occasion one may actually work.

PJ Fleck sure wasn't afraid to use them either. Kept his teams fired up. Really depends on the personnel make-up of the team and having the right circumstances to use them in.

OK, this isn't a best of the midwest qualifier, and it's off-topic, but on the news tonight they were talking about the roads in Toledo, specifically the potholes and how the city has been getting less and less state and federal funding to repair the roads. But, apparently, as much as some of our roads suck, Toledo still has the best roads of any major city on Ohio. So, take that, Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincy. 03-nutkick

I must drive the same roads as the local politicians because I generally never understood what all the complaints were based on. OK, there was that one time, the really BIG pothole on Detroit near Monroe but that lady filled it in nicely with her car.

If you report a pothole to dominoes pizza they may fix it?

A part of their initiative for dropped pizzas on the drive home.
