Makes me smile. That kid looks like such a twerp, especially with those Iowa give-away sunglasses.

P.S. Speaking of give-away sunglasses, an attendant at the Purdue game handed me a pair of Purdue sunglasses with the P logo on the lenses (quite cool). I told him I was an NIU fan, and he told me they were for all fans. He was such a nice guy, that I could not refuse him.

P.P.S. Wouldn't Huskie sunglasses be a GREAT give-away at a home game? IMO, those would be fabulous! Should not be hard to get a sponsor(s) to fund them. C'mon Athletics, think!! 03-idea

NIU gave away red sunglasses a few years back....I think First National Bank was the sponsor.

Must have been at a weeknight game. No glasses were ever given out at a game I attended. I sure hope they were NIU glasses.

Pretty sure it was a Saturday since it was sunglasses. Maybe supplies were limited and I just got lucky. I will try and find them and take a pic. They were cheapies but who cares... red and black. I even saw some band members wearing them years after.

RE: Iowa Tickets
Called the ticket office today and they have the Iowa ticket allotment but it hasn’t been allocated to orders yet. This should happen in the “next few weeks”. Good news is that it sounds like everyone who put in an order by the priority deadline will get the requested tickets.

And remember Nebraska tickets weren’t distributed until July last year.

Sitting in Kinnick is bad enough being a visitor...been to 4 NIU games there. You need to be around some of your own people.

Nothing against Iowa fans in general, but I got harassed the last time at Kinnick which is why I’ll overpay just to sit in the NIU section.

Yep, agreed. I got harassed a bit at Ohio State and Michigan. That's to be expected when their fans have brains the size of peas, and those peas are swimming in alcohol. The fans at Minnesota were by far the nicest. Very pleasant and had some nice conversations. It was a real pleasure to see such maturity from a Big Ten school. Of course, however, now that PJ is there........
The fans in Lincoln Nebraska are nothing short of amazing !! so nice !!

Yep. Any of you that missed going last year, I highly recommend making the trip to Lincoln in 2019. What a bonkers town on game day (in a good way).

My daughter would ask, are the glasses rated for protection for UV protection. Sometimes cheap give aways are cheap give aways.

Just got an email today that the allocation process will start some time "over the next week" and will be included with your season tickets going out August 20th.

RE: Iowa Tickets
I called the NIU ticket office today to buy 2 tickets to NIU-Iowa and was told I can not buy them since I am not a season ticket holder.
Unreal. I am beginning to see why football has seen a decline in attendance.

Or season ticket holders and donors bought up the entire allocation and there are no extras. Shame on NIU for that!

RE: Iowa Tickets
I think they would of told me that they were sold out of Iowa tickets, and not available for purchase, which was not the case. One needs to be a season ticket holder and a donor.

My exact words were " so I can not purchase tickets through NIU to support NIU athletics and have to go elsewhere??" they replied "correct". I said I dont agree with this and hung up.

They put STH rule in because otherwise Iowa fans would circumvent the system and buy NIU’s allotment.

I have not. They did say they will be going in the mail on August 20th with the season tickets, so there is plenty of time.

I was confused by that comment on the email as I've already been charged for mine.

+1

I had sent them a check already for Iowa and FSU tickets also. The ticket office got back to me pretty fast. The email was a bit confusing though I must agree.
