Track and Field update
Freshman Hociel Landa won the 10,000 meters at the USATF Junior National Championships in Fayetteville. His time was 31:22.33.

This is a BIG deal - a major championship!

OK. I'll make a big deal about it - because it is. Anyone who doesn't turn 20 during 2018 can compete in it.

Congratulations, Mr. Landa.

I'd offer you a beer, but given you're competing in the junior level, you're not of legal drinking age. 04-cheers

He also ran a very gutsy 3000 steeplechase race in 90+ degree heat today and finished third.

Not to be snarky but is there any particular reason he wasn't more of an impact guy for us this past spring?

3rd at conference in the 10K and 9th in the 5K as a freshman is pretty damned good.

Gotcha, I guess I missed that. His RiceOwls.com (haha, what am I thinking to rely on that??) profile only has his XC results so far. I thought he had redshirted!
