Little Rock Rangers
I guess if you rely on the Demozette you wouldn't know Little Rock had a amateur developmental soccer league team. My son took me out to their game tonight, at War Memorial, for Father's Day and I was pleasantly surprised. The quality of play was quite good. There were probably 2500-3000 fans there willing to pay 10 bucks to sit on metal bleachers in the 90 degree heat. The crowd was pretty active and into the game. The owners must be doing something right. I wish we could get that many folks out to the Stephens Center. And it is not just about winning, as the Rangers came into the game with a losing record. They did win 2-1 tonight.

RE: Little Rock Rangers
NPSL Attendance is hard to find. It is considered a 4th "tier" league which uses primarily college players and offers no salaries. I found a site on the internet, where a guy made a concerted effort to determine attendance figures for the 96 teams in 2017. Only about half of the 96 clubs responded. Little Rock was one of 5 teams to average over 2000 fans per game. He assumed that most of the clubs who wouldn't respond averaged far less than 988 per game average he found for the 40+ teams that responded. Based on his data Little Rock was 4th in the League in attendance. Nice to see Little Rock support something other than the hogs. Maybe one day we will even be able to move to a higher tier league. Of course, that didn't work out for Mr. Crane when he moved his Rimrockers from the farcical ABA to the NBA Developmental League.

Prior to the game, the Mexark League All stars lost to my leagues all stars (ARCSA) on PKs after going 1-1 in regulation! There’s an entire soccer subculture in Arkansas. The sport is really growing in this country, and I love it.

My son plays in that league, as well, so we were also at that game. The MLS (top soccer tier) is doing really well averaging over 20,000 per game in attendance. Atlanta is averaging an amazing 48,401, compared to the Braves 31,6016. As more and more of the population is made up of folks, who played soccer as kids, I think the popularity will continue to grow. It will take a long time, if ever, for soccer to pass American football, but it will likely be the #2 sport in the US in one more generation.

Oh, cool. Does he play 7v7? Maybe I’ve played him before. Heck, maybe he’s on my team!

He plays on both a 7 x 7 team and an 11 man team.

Yes, but the Non Soccer crowd is still very quick to point out to you how boring it is.

I don't think they have any other material outside of "Its boring" but I've certainly heard that a lot.

Ya, Germany vs. Sweden today was sure boring. No excitement at the end at all.

RE: Little Rock Rangers
I've not made it out for a Rangers game this year or even checked to see if they were streaming but I've gone to games in the past and watched some online. It's the soccer equivalent of a summer wood bat baseball league. Entertaining and the guys hustle. Always seem to be a handful of guys well known by local soccer kids so I guess they either coach or have taught youth clinics.

Good fun for the price, hope they still serve Lost Forty beer.
