Exclamation Returning Player Metrics From Phil Steele
Didn't see where any of these were posted.

Percent of Yards Returning:
18. Georgia Southern 84.6%
24. ULM 80.3%
46. Arkansas State 72.7%
59. Louisiana 70.3%
69. South Alabama 64.3%
92. Coastal Carolina 52.8%
95. Texas State 49.9%
105. Appalachian State 45.3%
112. Georgia State 37%
121. Troy 31.5%

Career Starts on Offensive Line:
15. Georgia Southern 102
42. Georgia State 82
57. ULM 73
59. Troy 72
68. Louisiana 67
69. Coastal Carolina 66
80. Texas State 60
90. Appalachian State 54
98. Arkansas State 50
124. South Alabama 23

GS tops both lists here. Will be interesting to see where we are on the overall returning experience chart.

I'm honestly kind of surprised that across the board there's that much OL inexperience in the conference.

RE: Returning Player Metrics From Phil Steele
We return almost our entire OL, but they were all freshman or sophomores last year, so they don't have a ton of combined starts, which is the metric used.

A few observations.

Louisiana might do better this year than I was thinking. Certainly bowl eligibility 6-6 isn't unrealistic for the Cajuns. And maybe they can sneak up and beat MSU in game two also under a new head coach. Joey Jones is on the MSU staff now, so he will be familiar with some of the Cajun players, albeit a new scheme under Napier.

A lot of people predict a big year out of the Warhawks, and this would seem to bolster that belief. ULM has Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Southeastern Louisiana, and Texas A&M out of conference. I think ULM has a shot at going 3-1 depending on how Ole Miss is this year. Get it Warhawks!

I'm curious the impact Coach Campbell can have this year with the very thin and inexperienced OL that the Jags have. For this to be our area of concern (again) at least we have a great OL coach behind the headset guiding the team through it.

Georgia Southern might return a lot percentage-wise, but the offense last year ranked #113 nationally. I would hope for you guys you're able to turn this experience into more yards and points this year. How are you guys feeling based on spring practice?

This might be more than you wanted, but here goes...

At least one of two things has to be true about GS:

1. In spite of having a higher scholarship ceiling, better recruiting budget, better facilities and more access to more recruits, we've recruited as poorly as we have in the history of our program.

2. We failed because the coaching that we have had was really, really, bad.

Now if you're using Occam's Razor, #2 is the better answer. I watched some of the SoCon last season and I can say with confidence the team we had in the first half of the season or so would probably win 4 games in that league at most and miss the playoffs. That, plus the crappy stats Summers produced with our great offensive roster in 2016 makes me even more confident.

I know some will call it homerism, but I know the history of this program well. I knew after we played Auburn last year in the very first game of the year that our team was in deep doo-doo. I'm not making any guarantees because there are very few sure things when it comes to hiring coaches, but it's not going to take a brilliant coaching job to get this team to 6-8 wins.

Do you think Joey Jones has more familiarity with the Cajuns over Mark Hudspeth?

With the way Hud ran our team, he may!

Sorry ULM has either the #1 or #2 WR group in the SBC.

Xavier Brown was banged but was 25 425yards 4td in 2016.
Markus McKray was hurt part of the year and had 22 catches 495 yards in 2016. Marcus Green and RJ Turner are really good.
Brown / McKray are deep threats and will be seniors along witb Dee Gillespie who will be a senior with 13 catches for 261 these 3 guys all averaged close to or above 20 yards per catch during a season.
