This might be more than you wanted, but here goes...
At least one of two things has to be true about GS:
1. In spite of having a higher scholarship ceiling, better recruiting budget, better facilities and more access to more recruits, we've recruited as poorly as we have in the history of our program.
2. We failed because the coaching that we have had was really, really, bad.
Now if you're using Occam's Razor, #2 is the better answer. I watched some of the SoCon last season and I can say with confidence the team we had in the first half of the season or so would probably win 4 games in that league at most and miss the playoffs. That, plus the crappy stats Summers produced with our great offensive roster in 2016 makes me even more confident.
I know some will call it homerism, but I know the history of this program well. I knew after we played Auburn last year in the very first game of the year that our team was in deep doo-doo. I'm not making any guarantees because there are very few sure things when it comes to hiring coaches, but it's not going to take a brilliant coaching job to get this team to 6-8 wins.
