State's No. 12 senior, West Bloomfield power guard Donavan Moore, headed to Toledo.

Per bank hoops

WMU offered Tyler Cochran out of Bolingbrook Ill, (Nana Anketon at Nebraska) who too is a power guard.

As of now I suspect UIC is the biggest challenger. Would like very much to see Cochran in Brown and Gold.

On Moore

How one head coach gets a 2019 Michigan kid in June.

Quote:Recent University of Toledo men’s basketball commit Donavan Moore heard from Rockets coach Tod Kowalczyk and assistant coach Kyle Barlow almost every day throughout his recruiting process.

Quote:“For me in kind of watching how the staff interacted with him — Coach K and Coach Barlow — they were contacting him every day,” Denha said. “They really made him feel like he was one of the main guys they wanted in that 2019 class.

K is a good recruiter. Better than he coaches.

Just observing the # of kids "offered" by way of recruiting sites is that K offers a lot of kids and then takes or receives only what is allotted. Kids and their group read. A simple deduction is that a staff can't call everyone equally or they are lying. But so many on the receiving end of recruitment live in a fantasy world of their own creation sustained by others.

Hawk takes (I believe) a different approach. Offers those he wants and continue to observe the others. Adjust as the situation dictates. Not sure if they burn up the phone lines with those select few or also takes a more hands off approach.

I recall both reading and listening to Booby Knight talk about how the kid was to recruit him. How much due you buy in? What are you willing to give up to contribute to the greater good?

I know he held a unique position but HC's are buyers too. You lift and spin the eggs in the carton looking for cracks and leaks. You ask the butcher to flip the side of meat or fish over to look at the other side. You read the table of ingredients to determine calories and preservatives before you pay.

As always I hope the kid has a great career but more importantly finds paths forward to his future.

But the love ends once practice begins.

Some are chided sliding downward to being belittled.

Others are put on ignore and the silence is deafening.

Either way "the love" becomes a 1 way street unless you perform.

K is a screamer. Finger pointer. Works for some. Not for others.

One thing is sure, neither were used TO recruit.

Nothing new but a simple fact that College sports is a business. It isn't for the faint of heart.
