Dabo Swinney was paid more than the SC Governor last year ...
... or the governor of any other state.

... or all 50 governors combined.

... by more than $1 million:

To be fair, Henry McMaster only makes $106,078 and is only the fifth-highest paid person in the Governor's Office

I hate to stick up for Clemson, but Swinney's official state salary is $245,000 (the rest is from donor's and the athletic fund) and that is tied for 154th among all state employees. Will Muschamp (1.1 million) Dawn Staley (650k), Frank Martin (550k), Ray Tanner (AD, 537k), Travaris Robinson (SC Defensive Coordinator, 500k), and Mark Kingston (baseball, 475k) are actually 1-6.

To (somewhat) paraphrase Babe Ruth:

"I know, but Dabo had a better year.."

Even that isn't state money as the Clemson Athletic Department is self-sustaining.

Correct and it’s the same for Muschamp and everyone else at SC. Not sure why our “official” salaries are higher, I guess just because more AD funds are used than Gamecock Club money.

Dabo would be a better governor but can't afford the pay cut.

McMaster has a ton of legitimate money and probably a ton of illegitimate money as well.
