I always think that those demanding loyalty look at it as a one way street. They want loyalty given more than they want to give it.

Its a dog eat dog world, every man for himself.

And in recruiting there is a plantation mentality (wish I had a better descriptor because it freaks people out) but among fans there is great resentment when say you are a fan of the University of Kentucky and the top prospect in the state chooses to go to Oklahoma. There is a belief among fans that any prospect who lives in their state or regional area of influence owes it to the university to sign with the school.

Yet the same fans are delighted when the school signs a high caliber player from out-of-state being recruited by the local peer.
