If you've had the displeasure of venturing into alt-left twitter lately, you will have likely come across this photo accompanied by a visceral, unhinged rant.



Well, yet again, it has been debunked as fake news.

Various people shared the photo along with stories about the boy's age and how he was taken from his parents at the border.

However, the photo wasn't from an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement detention center and was actually taken as part of a protest organized by the Brown Berets. On June 11, the Brown Berets de Cemanahuac posted a series of photos from the protest on Facebook, including one of the little boy in the blue shirt outside of the cage that was constructed.

At a time when trust in the media is at a low and “fake news” is a hot topic, several people pointed out that although they are outraged that kids are being separated from their parents, inciting emotions with a misleading photo isn't right, either.
