Apparently 3 bowls are being added in 2020. One in Myrtle Beach, one in Chicago, and then it's rumored the 3rd will be in Charleston although no offense to El Cid but I would hate for my bowl game to be in their stadium.

I seem to recall Charleston was aiming for Sun Belt v ACC. Wonder if that is still the case?

A P5 matchup would be nice. But if we are getting the ACC #12 team, I hope we are sending our #5+ team.

Wonder how many bowls will change contract in 2020. With the PAC12 saying no 5-7 teams will go bowling, means more opportunities for other conferences to get that extra bid.

I'd love to steal the Frisco or Heart of Dallas bowl to replace the Montgomery bowl.

Between Dallas/Frisco, NOLA, Mobile, Orlando, and Myrtle Beach, I'd be very happy.

Myrtle Beach would be a cool destination spot but is there any chance CCU will replace that turf..?

I got no problem with the turf, as long as CCU doesn’t go to an all teal uniform for home games.

But how will CCU handle repainting emblems on the field for bowl games.

I know it is almost as unfair as a team wearing all green on a natural grass field, or Army when they wore white in a snow storm last year.

well yeah that's a problem too, but I remember the teal turf didn't look so hot on TV. Maybe it looks better in person

It would not be a problem. You can paint the synthetic turf, they make paint especially for it. There is a zamboni/carpet steam cleaner type machine that then removes the paint when done. There are many places that do so to switch between various sports and or hosting events.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J7Y1wRLdMvE

And as for how it looks on TV, the only issue was certain times of day when the Sun created a glare effect, but we are all hoping that may dull as the turf wore a couple seasons. If we are talking 2020, that’s even more wear.

It’s too damn cold in Chicago for a Bowl game outside. I’d like to see Houston get another Bowl with SBC . Playing at the Houston Dynamo stadium. Frisco would be nice as well.

Montgomery is just about as close as you can get to being the geographic center of the conference.

TXST to Montgomery is basically the same drive as AState to Cure Bowl or App to NOLA.

While I personally would love to use a bowl trip as an excuse to go to Tucson, it is 900 miles from TXST and well over 1000 miles for everyone else. If the league has options, it is hard to justify pledging league resources to Tucson over a game that is closer to most of the conference and three of our ties are closer to TXST than Tucson.

I'm more interested in who would the tie-in be with. Really anyone but the MAC I'd be fine with.

If I had a choice between MB or Charleston, I'd prefer Charleston.

Considering the latest plans for the other side Charleston is no longer courting a bowl game.

From the link they would have about 15,500 seats with the possibility of adding 2,400 more to bring to 17,900 which is close in number to that of Montgomery and Coastal Carolina.

The bowl contracts run out in 2019-20, there will be a lot of movement in bowl tie ins, doesn’t mean we keep the current line up. Besides, you guys are further from making a bowl then we are, what are you worried about where they are located. 04-chairshot

And our last bowl was in Arizona....

I am only worried about location since last time we went 7-5 and y'all went 6-6 y'all got the bowl because of location.

Location figured into it, for sure, but also these factors:
1) Both teams had six FBS wins. USA did not play an FCS team while TSU did.
2) USA beat TSU head-to-head with a third-string walk on QB that was forced to start due to injuries.

Hard to say it was just because of location. TSU could have made it academic if they had beaten a wounded Jaguar team late in the season.

It sure the SBC will cut ties with the Montgomery bowl considering we just signed on to have them host our baseball tourney. Looks like the SBC is trying to gain attention in that city, makes since to keep a bowl tie in there.

I have a hard to believing the Sun Belt would cut ties. The city has embraced the game, and their bowl committee tries to do things first class. It's also within driving distance for pretty much everyone. More importantly it's an ESPN game and we are all in with them.

Brooks Stadium will seat a little over 20,000 when finished and the Crampton Bowl 25,000.
