Two great winner-take-all games going to extras tonight. CSF-W & V-MSST. Read about them in the morning if you haven't been watching.

I like Kendall's tweet a little while ago, after both Washington and Vandy tied it in the bottom of the 9th of their respective games...

Go home college baseball, you’re drunk.

For those not following, UW blew a one-run lead with two out in the 9th, when their closer flubbed an easy bouncer back to the mound, and then gave up the go-ahead run only to have UW tie it up again in their half of the 9th. In the other contest, it was 3-3 heading to the 9th in Nashville...Mississippi State scored 3 in the top half of the 9th, only to have Vandy tie it up with 3 runs of their own in the bottom half. Insane, indeed.

Wow! Fullerton just booted their chances bigtime!

Fullerton took the leading with a 2-out solo homeron in T10. (This game was in Fullerton, but it was Washington's turn to be home team.) But in B10, after the lead-off Husky singled, three straight Titan-botched fielding plays allowed Washington's tying run to score and then load the bases. A high fly to left field plated the winning run, and the Huskies are going to Omaha for the first time in their program's history.

The first error play was the Fullerton pitcher threw wildly to first after a well-placed sac-bunt near the first-base line. That put runners at first and third.

The second miscue was a dropped relay at second after a good play by the Titan SS to get to a sharp grounder into the hole. The runner at 3rd would have scored anyway, and a double play may not have been possible. But the result was that runners were at first and second with still no outs.

The final bumble, which loaded the bases, was when a bouncer to shortstop bounced off the Fullerton fielder's chest.

RE: Supers
Just as in Fullerton, the home field was also not an advantage tonight to Vanderbilt. They lost 10-6 after Mississippi State scored 4 runs in T11. After giving up a lead-off 4-pitch walk in B11, the Bulldogs changed pitchers and quickly retired the next three Commodores.

Both teams also wore uniforms that bore scant relation to their schools' colors. Mississippi State (colors: maroon & white) played in black unis with white script and trim. Black is a _Vandy_ school color (along with gold)!! The Commodores played in bright blue shirts with white script and pants (along with red-white-and-blue flag accents). A pox on both of their houses, I say.

I speculated a few weeks ago that Mississippi State might not need a new coach after all if they somehow made it to the CWS. Well that's now where they are heading.

And it's hard to believe UW has never been to Omaha before. They've been playing college baseball for a long time. They may be the last of the original Pac-10 schools to make it.

Ugh. What is it with teams these days and their awful uniform choices?

Really. One school has grey as one of its "primary" colors, yet there is an absence of that color in its teams' uniforms.

Uniform restraint is no more. The Astros were wearing green the other day. At least these teams weren't wearing camouflage.

Walt, I think that was a rhetorical question.

Texas scored 2 runs in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings -- the latter on 2 solo dingers, one of them by Cody Clemens -- to take a 4-zip lead over Tennessee Tech in their winner-goes-to-Omaha game.

The ESPN2 graphic showed that TTU had twice as many homers than UT in the regular season ... but had only 1 to 4 by the 'Horns in this super regional.

TTU gets one back in T4. 4-1, heading to B4.

Surprised Cody got a chance to hit. After his display I would’ve thrown fastballs right at him. It’s not new either he taunted the Aggies last week.

TTU down by 3 in the T6 score on a sac fly:

"The lead has been cut in half"

That would be something I'd never seen before.
