CLF on "Hot Seat"?
Really? Hot Seat #4? A little early, wouldn't you say?

Not even close. We owe him ~$10m on his buyout and it does not get down into the affordable range until his 4th season. Moreover, I think he willl be given a lot of latitude given what was left of this program by the prior regime and his Ohio ties.

Yes to both posters.

You know, I shouldn't give a rats butt about what coacheshotseat.com says but when you look at the guys on that list I dang gum guarantee that CLF's seat is not hotter than Jim Harbaugh, Ed Orgeron or Larry Fedora. Give me a break!

Couldn't agree more. I was like "seriously"? That's how you lose credibility on your website.

You know, I was just saying the other day that Everette Withers at Texas State should be on the hot seat.

It's an over reaction. However, i do think he's on the "hot" seat to show improvement over last year. I would think most of the fans do expect this. If he drops game to Miami and Ohio as i've read elsewhere, the fan base will not be happy.

They fact that they have Scottie Montgomery at #23 (a man who has gone 6-18 in two seasons at ECU) and CLF at #4 (4-8 in one season with two Top 2 recruiting classes) just shows that they're picking names out of a hat.

RE: CLF on "Hot Seat"?
Just stupidity.

1. Big buyout
2. Completed 1 year with 4-8 which was not unexpected
3. Two best years of recruit rankings in history
4. Stable staff
5. No reasonable fan wants his head
6. No big booster wants his head

Isn't this really a positive thing for our program. That they think so highly of our program and how we are so intolerant of losing that we'll can a coach this early?

[Reporter] Coach, you are entering your fourth season at Michigan and have yet to win a major bowl, win the B1G Conference or beat Ohio State. Can you empathize at all with the pressure Cincinnati's Luke Fickell is facing in only his second year of a major rebuild?

That's my first thought as well. I see this as a (poorly informed) compliment.

Hot seat, yes. Any chance of being fired, no. There is real pressure this season to make a bowl game.

CLF inherited a steaming pile of dung. He cannot be blamed until the team is his recruits.

He desperately needs to fix he O line and QB positions. What sane QB would transfer to UC with our O line?

RE: CLF on "Hot Seat"?
There are a lot of things that need to be fixed, but O line depth is at the top of my list.

One of the things I remember most vividly about Chad's interviews this spring was CLF talking about finding "those 5 linemen". Most programs are looking for 8 to 10 guys that can sub out for each other. Most every O lineman gets dinged up and needs some time on the sidelines. (Good interviews Chad. More please.)

My impression is that we have very little depth available right now. Winning programs rest their "grade A" linemen with their B+ guys. It looks like we will be resting our "grade B" guys with our "C-" guys. Or we plan to leave starters in until they drop. (I hope I am proven overly pessimistic.)

Next on the offense, we need receivers who can separate, get open, stretch the field, and hold onto the ball. That was a big part of making Gunner look so good a couple of years ago. Somebody was always open, and there were very few drops.

It would have been nice to get a more talented QB in here, even if just for a graduate year. However, without the OL and WR upgrades, any QB may look mundane. And yes, I suspect that was a factor in Burrow's decision process.

The problem is that WR/RB/CB/LB are a dime a dozen. High level OL are not and they all mostly go to P5 schools.
