message for Adoraz since I know you lurk here- do you ever think I did post something, and the moderators on purpose didn't approve it to make me look bad?

I will say at least 70% of my posts there don't get approved.....

RE: Around the league 2018-2019
So did some looking-
raw efficency numbers
Offense
Creighton 1.124
St John's 1.112
Villanova 1.093
Xavier 1.077
Butler 1.076
Georgetown 1.052
Marquette 1.051
DePaul 1.051
Providence 1.048
Seton Hall 1.034

Defense
Marquette 0.899
St John's 0.932
DePaul 0.941
Seton Hall 0.954
Providence 0.958
Butler 0.959
Villanova 0.960
Georgetown 0.964
Xavier 1.001
Creighton 1.019

net efficency/NCAA SOS/NET/losses
St Johns .180/174/24/1
Marquette .152/54/22/3
Villanova .133/8/33/4
Butler .117/33/49/4
DePaul .110/310/140/3
Creighton .105/5/37/4
Providence .090/88/89/4
Georgetown .088/216/122/3
Seton Hall .080/23/46/3
Xavier .076/47/70/5

You can see why Georgetown is so low.. I'd say SOS is making a pretty big impact in things. and MOV is definitly an impact.

RE: Around the league 2018-2019
interesting from Andy Katz..
The Big East
The favorite: Marquette.
The contenders: Villanova, St. John’s and Seton Hall.
The sleeper: Providence. The Friars can make a late run once A.J. Reeves returns.
The puzzling team: Butler. The Bulldogs have been hard to figure all season.
The non-conference wins to remember: Seton Hall beating Kentucky in overtime and winning at Maryland; Marquette knocking off Buffalo and Kansas State and Providence winning at Texas.
The best-case scenario: The league still gets five teams in the field. Six seems like a reach this season.

RE: Around the league 2018-2019
well, this should slow the talk about St Louis being back...

Sources: Saint Louis freshman Carte'Are Gordon will transfer. Former Top-75 recruit. Was averaging 8.9 PPG and 4.1 RPG.

of top 9 players he's gone and then 4 seniors leave after this year.. And 1 of the returners is playing in 11.9% of the minutes so far.

Georgetown murdering Butler.... So much for Butler being in great shape for the tourney. 49 losing at home to the #122 team by 14? Will they even be top 75 tomorrow?

RE: Around the league 2018-2019
I think you have got to start to wonder about Marquette's profile....

Have 3 NET tier 1 wins
#14 Wisconsin Home
#27 Louisville neutral
#28 Buffalo home

have 1 tier 2 win
#34 Kansas St home

however, Kansas St just got their brains beaten in by Texas- at home. they might fall out of the top 50 after that performance.

oh, and that incredible Marquette OOC schedule- now is ranked #87.

now great for Providence....

RE: Around the league 2018-2019
it's funny- it does seem like there might be a bit of seperation- something that could really go even further this weekend....

Seton Hall @ Depaul
Villanova @ Providence
Creighton @ Butler
St John's @ Georgetown
Xavier @ Marquette

for IMO especially Providence and Butler- these are HUGE games. Butler in particular has got to stop the bleeding after these last 2 games. They probably need 10 conference wins, so to start 0-2 would be devastating- with both home losses.

following up on this-
Kansas St dropped from 34 to 55. So closer to a tier 3 win now than tier 1....

For Providence- Texas moved up from 75 to 51. Providence's problem is simple now- they need wins.

While I have no clue that the Big East will be expanding in the next 12-24 months, I sincerely doubt that one freshmen transferring out of a program would be the difference maker with regards to an expansion invitation.

Gordon's transfer still does not eliminate Saint Louis' institutional fit (Catholic/Jesuit), strong media market (#21 in the country), strong academics (top-100 in USNWR), high endowment (over $1 billion), solid student enrollment (over 13k students), high alumni populations in BE cities (Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and New York City) and large on-campus arena (over 10k).

Saint Louis checks a ton of boxes that university Presidents look for when considering expansion. If SLU were ever added to the Big East, I would envision it a lot to be like the B1G's addition of Rutgers - a school that was not added due to its athletic success, but rather its peer, institutional and contiguous fit (as well as athletic potential under the conference brand).

I think though for the Big East, basketball fit is going to be extremely high up there. A lot of expansion will be for TV, and the next TV contract. If SLU is mediocre at best- I just don't think the Big East will even remotely consider them... Big Ten is a lot different IMO- they can afford to have a weak link. The Big East can't- especially if they're only going to 11 teams and keeping the frankly dumb round robin. For SLU- they have got IMO to show the Big East that they are going to be good in basketball.

I think for maybe once in ages- Marquette is major Wisconsin fans right now. Wisconsin losing at halftime to Minnesota by 15 points. Marquette doesn't need their best win losing that bad.... If the Gophers finished the job(which is a HUGE IF- and especially at that margin)- I don't know if Wisconsin would remain in the top 30.

RE: Around the league 2018-2019
lol at Mullinwood on the other site... bitching about Seton Hall... saying they're barely winning.... look at their scores.... Still butthurt about their game on Saturday.

well dude, that's what happens when you play, i don't know, real teams. Something I know that St John's knows nothing about.

Frankly I don't know how anyone can be counting on Butler right now. They have 2 even remotely close to good wins- Florida and Ole Miss..

and good for hall2012 calling him out on it. The VCU game St John's got gifted because the ref didn't want to decide the game late. Despise that because the ref then IS deciding the game.

RE: Around the league 2018-2019
sorry billyjack, the VCU call was brought up by national writers after the St John's/Seton Hall game on Saturday...... Cute try to change the narrative. You might not think it's a foul, but pretty much everyone else does. It's a foul that is called 99% of the time. edit- and the analyst calling the game thought it was a foul REAL TIME!!!!

Now having said that, I agree with you that it's probably going to wind up a win-win for the league.

And frankly, I despise the notion that refs have about fouls late. That they don't want to decide the games. When in fact by not calling fouls, they're actually you know, deciding the game.

it's obvious from looking at HLOH that I'm not talking to my self....

The problem is no one is man enough to come here and debate where they aren't protected by the moderators not allowing them to hear what they don't want to hear. Like i've said before, it's the old Fox News thing. They want to hear only what they actually believe in....

"No Chance"
Well, Lunardi for one disagrees--- so, start lol'ing at him. Before you say anything, of course I realize he does not have the highest accuracy rate among bracketologists historically. But, it is interesting.

I believe, which of course you will probably disagree with, that BE will get 4 or possibly even 5 in. To me, 6 is out of the question. The Pac 12 fall will benefit several leagues / at large selections... I just happen to believe BE will snag one of them given the history. gonna hold you to that less than 4. If we only get 3 or less, will buy you a beer. Care to reciprocate?
