Board of Trustees Meeting Friday
The Board of Trustees are meeting tomorrow. It's a light meeting and not much UAB related, except the approval for demolition of the UAB Townhouse and another building in the medical center as well as the approval of a memorandum of understanding with the BJCC on the general guidelines of a lease agreement (linked below). This is necessary to allow the BJCC to start selling bonds.

Key details:

* Lease starts August 2021
* 20 year lease, with a 10 year option to terminate if UAB "is not in compliance with all requirements for maintaining a program in good standing with NCAA requirements"
* UAB has scheduling priority over all other events at the facility
* UAB is responsible for paying for or otherwise selling $350,000 in naming or 'marketing opportunities'
* Rent is $25,000 per regular season game, $15,000 for post season games, $10,000 for the spring game, meaning minimum yearly rent is $150,000

So I guess that confirms we'll be at Legion for three more years.

I'm wondering if they plan to have it ready in 2020, but want to use it for the world games or if it's just not going to be ready by 2021. I'm assuming the latter

RE: Board of Trustees Meeting Friday
The minimum yearly rent is for 6 home games. If we can get a 7th regular season home game, will we pay $25,000 more? Hosting the C-USA Championship game is $15,000 and the spring game is $10,000. How does this dollar amount compare with our deal at Legion Field? Since UAB will be playing at the BJCC facility instead of Legion Field, will the new city leaders still feel obligated to buy the same number of tickets as in the past?

The MOU with the BJCC has been approved by the Physical Properties committee. The board will still vote on the actual lease when that is ready to go

The board will recommend honoring the life of a former basketball coach at a sister school when the full board gets together (either today or tomorrow whenever it is).

Just wondering if they did the same for Coach Bartow.

They may have. Just curious.

This same statement should be in all agreements with that renegade program in Tuscaloosa.

Good deal. So was that the last step needed for the BJCC to go to the bond market and officially get this project going?

Ed accidentally put out a tweet saying that Ray was stepping down. (Hayes not Watts)

He deleted the tweet and clarified that it was Hayes.

That is so cruel.
