I misread yesterday I thought he went to Bama.

I saw alot of comments out of Tuscaloosa yesterday with people supporting him. Some of them said he did good and could be good for the state and others said whatever it took to get him out of Tuscaloosa.

Sorry, i had better things to do today. California went fine. The 2/3rds majority will be back after November, there was only one shutout in CA and that was in a not going to win district, the GOP flubbed a NJ open seat badly, and in Missouri.....another soecial election disaster for the GOP. Congrats on getting Cox onto the ballot in California. He will get 33 percent against Gavin Newsom

Agreed, but considering that's also what Trump goy against Hillary, it proves the point and directly argues against your 'blue wave' argument.

California DIDN'T go fine. FINE would have been getting 2 dems on the ballot and you know it

What's the goal in California

State Legislature - Retain a 2/3rds majority in the State Assembly and State Senate. A minor hickup occurred, as a result of a recall election in a deep red seat. So the Dems are now 1 vote short of 2/3rds in one house until the end of the year. No biggie, 2/3rds only matters if you need to override a veto. I doubt the Dems will have much need to override Jerry Brown's vetos. And the budget has already been passed. And the reason why I'm pretty sure that the Dems will pick up another state Senate seat? Because in another California State Senate seat, this one supposedly hopelessly GOP, the GOP got locked out.

State Offices - Win every race. That will happen and it won't even be close. Wait - there is a small chance that a very moderate GOPer might win a race for Insurance Commissioner. But even that's unlikely at this point.

US Congress - Win at least 5 seats. Still on track. Remember that in California, Dem percentages rise significantly from the primary to the general.

CA-10 - Denham (Central Valley) 38 percent for Denham, 51 percent for the GOP. Clinton won this seat by 8 in 2016. In 2016, the GOP had 57 in the primary and 51 in the general. This is looking more like a pickup for the Dems at this point.
CA-25 - Knight (North LA County) 52 percent for Knight and the GOP. Clinton won here by 9. The GOP fell by 6 points between the primary and the general. Knight is getting outraised and even has less cash on hand than the Dem in this one. This is looking like a 50-50 shot, at worst for the Dems at this point.
CA-39 Open (Orange County). Total GOP vote 52 percent. Clinton won this by 9 in 2016, GOP lost 3 percent in 2016 between the primary and the general and had a 20 point lead in the primary in 2016. This is an open seat. This looks 50-50 at worst for the Dems.
CA-48 Rohrabacher (Orange County). 30 percent for Dana and 53 for the Dems. Clinton by 1 in 2016 here. And Rohrabacher will NOT get all the other GOP voters. This seat looks like a likely flip.
CA-49 Open (N SD County) 48 percent for the GOP. Clinton won here big in 2016. The GOP lost 0.5 between the primary and the general. Its another open seat. This one leans to the Dems.
CA-45 Walters (Orange County) - 53 percent for Walters and the GOP. Clinton won here by 5 in 2016. Walters lost 3 percent between the primary and the general. This looks like a true tossup.
CA-21 Valadao (Central Valley) 63 for Valadao and the GOP. This was not a great result (matched the 2016 result). Although Clinton won this district by a dozen points, this one still looks stubbornly likely GOP retain. Who votes for a hard right like Valadao and Clinton? Apparently people in CA-21.
CA-04 McClintock (Cental Valley) 52 for McClintock, 59 percent for the GOP. This looks like a likely retention for the GOP at this point.

Of the goal of 5 pickups from California, CA49, CA48, and CA10 are looking really good, and I think that CA25 is probably headed in our direction as well. So there's a battle royale for 39 and 45. I think we will win at least one of them. 50-50 right now, but these are educated voters. Again, I think the most likely result is still....a pickup of 5 seats.

---

So, I suppose that you can take solace in the fact that you did get a hopelesslly outmatched GOP candidate on the ballot for Governor. I'll take it because we got all the candidates we wanted through in the CDs we needed.

Deflect deflect deflect.

You've been touting a blue wave. No such thing happened. No solace for the right to be taken in this state clearly dominated by democrats by millions of votes... and nobody here ever said that Cali was turning Republican.

Contrary to your opinion, since you don't live here and only know what you know based on biased resources, the dems goal was clearly to have 2 democrats on the ballot and shut republicans out completely... NOT because Republicans expect to win, but because they don't even get to have a discussion about the direction of the country and help temper the more radical proposals from the left during debates and ads. That's really the best the right can hope for here... ideas like the high speed rail financial fiasco...

YOU said this was an indicator of the blue wave. What you got was a ripple at best, and you know it... and we're not stupid.

We all knew tom would spin it, we were just waiting on how.

After reading it, I'd give this one about a 3/10. He didn't have his usual pompous, smug, elitist energy behind it. Despite not selling anyone else, I knew he used to at least believe it himself. I don't think he even believes it anymore.

I'm actually okay with pissing off most of our 'allies'.

1) every one of them has taken advantage of us for decades
2) where else are they going to go? China? Russia? The very same people we're accusing Trump of siding with? Why would 'that' be okay for them if it's not okay for us?
3) do you think tapping Merkel's phone endeared us to Germany?
4) a FEW of them are routinely complicit in violating sanctions against some of these 'less than friendly' nations in their own best interests... and against ours.

I'm not suggesting that we should go out of our way to simply be rude, but sometimes you have to have a little TOUGH love. I wish Trump weren't so rude about it, but I'm not unhappy that he's calling them on their crap

RE: Blue Wavers Seem Pretty Quiet This Morning
I think about our defense spending issue. We spend so much because since WWII we have taken on the burden of maintaining the free flow of commerce around the world. The obvious answer is to have our allies pick up more of the burden. But when Trump suggests that, those same people who say we spend too much on defense immediately chime in with, "He's destroying NATO." You have to pick one or the other. I'm not saying that either position cannot be attacked or defended, because either one clearly can. But you can't attack both.

And "fine" isn't the status quo, this was supposed to be a harbinger of all the great things to come, the BIG, BEAUTIFUL BLUE WAVE sweeping West to East!

Instead we get a pebble tossed in the ocean.

Alas, who didn't see THIS coming? TIL predicted it, afterall...

It depends on when the photos were taken. Newsom divorced his first wife in 2006, Trump married Melania in 2005. There is a very good chance the Newsom photo was taken before the Trump photo.
