I feel bad for Marcus. I know some here might secretly cheer but I don't play that way.

In other OT basketball news, Mike Davis of TSU just announced he's leaving there to become the head coach at Detroit Mercy.

I can’t really say that I am rooting for Evans, but I am not rooting against him and I do not wish injuries on anyone. That sucks for him!

Here is an article on Achilles injuries for basketball players and the potential for recovery.

If he doesn't fully recover, he would have been better off staying at Rice and getting a Rice degree.

It's a devastating injury for an athlete. I don't know too much about re-injury. But I suspect the odds of returning to really competitive form are pretty long.

I hope he gets a degree. He may need it.

I hope his Achilles is healthy enough that he can live a healthy, normal, pain-free life and can keep his scholarship at VCU.

I wouldn't mind if he's a horrible disappointment on the court though (and I thought this before he was injured so it has nothing to do with "rooting for an injury").

If I were Pera or his staff, I'd put together a list of relatively recent or notable Rice players who transferred after only a season or two showing how (I believe) it generally doesn't work well for them, and then a list of Rice players who graduated with a Rice degree and how ell that worked for them, and keep it handy when a guy says or indicates he wants out.

Sounds like a great recruiting strategy...
