OT: Pac-12 passes rule requiring 6 wins for bowl eligibility
link: http://www.espn.com/college-football/sto...ligibility

Quote:The Pac-12 will require its football teams to win at least six regular-season games to play in a bowl game, eliminating the opportunity for a 5-7 squad to earn a postseason spot when there are not enough six-win teams nationally to fill the bowls.

Seems like way too many bowl games anyway. But this might eventually hurt the only P5 match-ups CUSA has if others follow suit. Another small item to separate the P5 and G5? On the other hand, perhaps it would open up a few more spots for G5s unless the number of bowls was reduced (which may well also be a goal here with this move.)

I at least appreciate they don't want losing teams representing them in bowls, which never made much sense to me.

ETA: It just occurred to me, by specifying a certain number of wins (6) perhaps leaves the door open for adding additional games to the schedule in the future?

Conf USA should require a minimum if 7 wins since the conference is so weak.

Not sure what an 8-4 ( for instance) G5 beating a 5-7 p5 would prove?
