RE: Regional Scoreboard
Pierce probably feels sorry for him. It would be a nice jesture for a few years for OG to be a consultant and give him a proper send off.

Kirk Bohls, in his column recently, was touting the idea of Pierce bringing the OG on as a pitching consultant...

Don't know if that's true, but wouldn't be surprised. I know Wayne and Pierce are still very close, and Wayne and Tanya are considering moving to Austin.

You've got to be kidding. Aside from the fact that the Pierce's and Graham's are close personal friends, Pierce owes everything he's gotten to The OG, and he still values his advice.

Pierce's Horns seem to be doing fine on their own, up 8-2 on the Ags thru 7.

They better be doing fine, they are only playing A$M. Glad they dodged the Big 10 team...

LSU playing some familiar looking ball against Oregon State. No score after bases loaded no outs in 1st. No score after 2 on no outs in 2nd (included a bunt pop out with a force out). Also walked in 3 runs I think on the other side of the ball.

RE: Regional Scoreboard
With two outs and none on in B9 of a 1-1 tie game, Cal State-Fullerton sent up 6-4, 240-pound LH freshman Jace Chamberlin to pinch hit. He smashed a 2-0 pitch high off the scoreboard in right-center to beat Stanford in walk-off fashion. It was his first home run of the year (89 ABs).

I caught the last three innings on ESPNU, and the action was so slow -- Stanford's starter threw 130 pitches in 7 innings, giving up just 3 hits and 1 run, 12 Ks & 3 BBs -- that viewers were treated to such valuable commentator chatter as:

- Every CWS played in a year ending with an 8 has been won by a West Coast team (1948, -58, -68, -78 & -98: USC; 1988: Stanford; 2008: Fresno State)

- A long argument about the difference -- or similarity -- in meaning of the expressions "movement in the bullpen" and "stirring in the bullpen."

Beavers win, 14-1.

The chatter coming from the Stanford-CSF announcers was irritating and juvenile. Only excuse was maybe they were slap-happy after a long day.

It often seems as if a lobotomy is a condition for being a sports announcer.

RE: Regional Scoreboard
Its going to be brutal for everyone but the winner's bracket champ in oxford.

First elimination game today, followed by winner's bracket champ game today.

The loser of the winner's bracket champ game and winner of the first elimination game meet in the nightcap today.

In order to win the regional from the loser's bracket, the contender has to play two games today *and* win both games of a double header tomorrow.

Just brutal for anyone in the loser's bracket to have to endure two back to back days of two games.

It wasn't that long ago when Day 2 had three games: the winner's bracket game, the loser's bracket game, and the elimination game from the losers of those games. I don't know what the players thought of that format, but as a fan I loved it. I think it changed about 10 years ago.

So in addition to UT in this year's tourney, I wanted to find an underdog to root for... I think I've zeroed in on TN Tech as that team.

However, Ben McDonald is one of the broadcasters in Oxford so that's making it tough. Haven't heard how last hunting season was yet but I know its coming.

UH loses 19-11, their season is also over. It's not over yet but things are looking like 10 regional hosts will advance? 3 ACC teams will not, along with East Carolina, Coastal Carolina and possibly Stanford. it will be interesting to see who hosts between 3 seeds Washington and Fullerton, and possibly also 2 seeds Vandy and Mississippi State.

The UH / UNC game score looks like a football game score with a couple of missed XPs and a safety or two thrown in for good measure.

One safety for UNC, two for UH.
