Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein may have said they were for the little guy but both would have enacted policies that would have destroyed our economy. That isn't in the best interest of the little guy no matter what the rhetoric.

You think Bernie would have gotten anything done with the obstructionists Republicans still in power. Yeah, I'm going to need you to go buy a clue. jk 05-stirthepot

Let’s be honest, for most of us, what does voting for either party do for you? Not a whole hell of a lot, I will guarantee you that much.

Here's how threads go:

1. OP is made.
2. Frequent posters then make a snap judgement or a related theory.
3. Everyone replies to the recent posts, with no respect given to the questions raised by OP.

I was making a comment on the crickets response to the original question. Seems telling.

Just give us one legitimate reason to vote for a Democrat. Just one. How hard is this

Evidently it's nearly impossible.

I'm a gay, recent college grad millennial who doesn't own guns who works two jobs to cover my living expenses and pay off my loans:
My degree job: a civil engineer who designs steel structures at entry level pay. (President Trump just imposed tariffs on steel imports which will hurt my business)
My side job: a server at a restaurant on weekends. I don't have to worry about making credit card payments, student loan payments, and car loan payments to help maintain my credit and I can build my savings.
My wages were not increased despite the tax break my company got.
I commute to work every day of the week (those gas prices though).
I get a basic level of healthcare through my degree job, but would absolutely have to pay out of pocket if I went to a hospital for whatever accident or surgery.
The contractors that my company works with sometimes exploit illegal immigrants for cheap labor. It's wrong, and illegal immigration is a problem, but my bonuses stay high because of it.
I also work closely with environmental agencies and plan to pursue that career path one day.
Taking the above into consideration, here's what I'm interested in:
-student loan forgiveness/affordable education
-replacing my healthcare premiums with a tax that everyone pays
-being able to marry and start a family with whomever I want
-protecting the environment for my job and my future children
Things that don't matter to me:
-illegal immigration
-abortion
-people on welfare
-"the race war"
-Christian values
So what does Conservative Christiandom and Trickle-Down Economics have to offer me?

Nothing. Because you are care about a narrow range of self-interests that don't appeal to a large number of Americans. You're like Lazy Tom, you view everything through the prism of what affects you. And the prism you have defined is pretty narrow and well on one fringe of American political thought.

And I would guess that you are using Conservative Christiandom and Trickle-Down in a pejorative manner. As stated, they have little appeal to me either. But Christian values and supply-side economics do. If you understood the difference, perhaps they would appeal to you. Perhaps not.

RE: [serious] What does voting Democrat do for me?
I've never been a democrat, so I couldn't tell you a good reason to vote for them on the federal level. I also can't tell you why to vote for a republican. The DNC and RNC are complete sh*t up and down. Hell, I think the fact that political parties are listed on the ballots is an insult to our democracy.

My problem with the democrats is the fact that they have nothing left but social stuff because they've been stifling any ideas that don't come from their heir presumptives to the establishment. There are plenty of ways they can go, but they're held up.

It's not republicans vs democrats for me, it's this individual vs that individual. Even Trump fit the bill for me in 2012. I would've taken that guy any day of the week.

I'm similar except I focus far more ideas and issue positions than personalities, and I don't find either party's positions satisfactory. On social issues, each side is too extreme in opposite directions. On fiscal issues, neither side is sufficiently committed to balancing the budget--they both favor it when they are out of power, but forget about it when in power. On defense and foreign policy, both are far too inclined to get us into wars that we don't intend to win, which impair our military readiness and seem incredibly effective at aligning us with the wrong parties. There is very little to choose between either one.

In 2016 I took several of those online polls about which candidate I supported. For both Trump and Clinton I never agreed more than 20% with either one.

Don’t get me wrong, policy is most important, but personality says a lot about how someone like a president can do his job.

My problem is that if I don't agree with what they are trying to do, I don't want them to be effective in doing it. I was quite frankly terrified that Obama was going to be effective, but fortunately his arrogant condescension pissed off not only republicans but also his own party, to the extent that he was very fortunately unable to enact more than a small part of the agenda with which he entered office.

Iran deal wasnt even an Executive Order. The beauty of being lazy and impatient like Obama was is that when you dont get a treaty through the Senate, foreign affair agreements can be ended at a whim...... oooopppss......
