This isn’t even a question of have/have-not... I’m an avid follower of three CFB teams, Rice, a “mid-tier” P5, and UT.

They ALL play early games and are all located in the South. And ALL fans hate it.

I managed to miss the entirety of Hurricane Harvey, so that was a nice benefit.

[quote='Tomball Owl' pid='15325414' dateline='1527a good game would be a good start.

We'll see. I hope the Owls take advantage. Any chance Rice will opt for "home whites"?

No way.... That is the perfect opportunity for Coach Bloom to bust out the all blacks....

Yeah, too bad for UT having to play at 11 am CDT on Sept. 1st ...

...in LANDOVER, MARYLAND! Actually, noon local time.

Last time I checked Maryland wasn't in the South.

Last time I checked Austin was a mere ~150 miles from HRS and last September, Maryland beat UT on the road in a game that kicked off at 11 AM CDT.

It's south of the Mason Dixon line! As my crab-eating friends like to remind me when I call them northerners.

And let's see when the Sept. games in Austin this year are scheduled.

So far...

Sept. 8 vs. Tulsa - 7:00 pm LHN
Sept. 15 vs. USC - 7:00 pm Fox
Sept. 22 vs TCU - TBA

I'm not saying UT should play at 11:00 am, in Sept., in Texas. No one should.

I think we’re both misunderstanding each other...

I’m not advocating for early games (though I do see slight utility in this one as I explained earlier).

I’m just saying this problem isn’t unique to us.

I know that UH plays at home vs. Arizona in an early game on the 8th.

TCU hosts an 11:00 AM game on Sept. 1.

Georgia Tech, 11:30 the same day.

And none of these games would have been scheduled that way before television got involved.

Tail, meet dog.

There you go and got me thinking about Maryland crab cakes. Sigh!
