Will not pay for it but it seems like a lot of CFB games are going to be on there. ESPN3 was nice while it lasted. It's a damn shame that NBC Sports Chicago will show D2 football the same time NIU is playing. I understand the MAC has contracts in place but it sucks when your local channel is showing two out of state teams while the local team is not on TV.

4 games in 20 days in November. That is insane.

Can somebody please explain what ESPN+ is? Is this the same as ESPN3, in other words streaming as opposed to TV? Will ESPN3 still exist? How do you get ESPN+? 03-weeping

I was under the idea that ESPN+ is same as ESPN3 just a name change and 5 dollar month fee

The 2 Wednesday Games will be 6 or 7PM.

All in all that's about as good as it gets.

I would hope the two Wednesday games would start at 7:00 p.m.

ESPN+ is $5/month or $50/year. You don’t need a cable subscription to access it, unlike espn3.

They’ve added a lot of hockey, basketball, baseball, rugby, soccer, tennis, etc. All the 30 for 30’s are on there.

I wonder if the men's and women's BB games will be moving from ESPN3 to ESPN+? It would make sense if they are pushing this new platform. Another way for ESPN to rape the fans and make more money.

The marriage to espn3 is on life support. ESPN needs money so we could get more Jemele Hill.

Actually, if we didn't have to take that FSU game for the $$$, we'd have another home game and probably another 2:30 or 6:30 Saturday game. Step in the right direction, I hope.

Could this get students to go to games if they can't watch it for free in their dorms?

Interesting (and hopeful) thought, but I doubt it. Most of our home games are not on ESPN+ anyway. However, the BB games may all be on ESPN+. Problem is that the students have no interest in NIU basketball, whether it's streamed or in person.

There was never really a marriage to CBSSN. CBSSN paid ESPN to sublicense some MAC games because they had airtime to fill, which I don't see changing. The MAC's contract was always with ESPN.

I need more information before making a judgment. I have been thinking about ditching cable for a while but did not want to give up watching the Huskies. If this lets me ditch cable while still having access to the full ESPN platform for $50 or for $5.00 a month during football and basketball seasons it won't be so bad.

Not sure how different that is from 3 games in 14 days if playing on three consecutive Saturdays?

The difference is at least one extra day, or if your math skills were better, two days difference. Playing "3 games" on "three consecutive Saturdays" involves 15 actual days, not 14. Another difference -- if the MAC and NCAA were not such hypocrites -- would be the number of "school days" being missed by the "student-athletes," but that doesn't matter any more than math skills. Play three consecutive Saturdays miss max of three Fridays if they're all on the road. Play NIU's schedule between Nov. 7 to Nov. 20 with just one road trip, miss five days of class.
Of course if you're like the MAC administration, you don't understand the benefits of playing on three consecutive Saturdays in November when attention is focused on conference races being decided.

I don't think that's the case, there is no change to the ESPN contract in the foreseeable future and thus the fanbase will continue to dwindle. This year might be not AS bad, but that is just a luck of the draw thing. I guess WMU really got a raw deal this year.

Booked mine at the Union--$71 plus tax. Red Roof Inn has decent rates, too.

Since I don't drink (much), I will just drive home after the game. Because this game is on a Saturday, we will spend the day (and some money) in DeKalb/Sycamore.
