Just waiting on a Georgia St fan to confirm that.

Haha, was thinking the same but that is always this case this time of the year. Would be very interesting to see the bowl line ups should that happen. Actually, has that ever happened in the Sunbelt where there were more bowl teams than slots available? I think I remember Texas St getting hung out to dry one year recently when the Sunbelt had like 2 tie ins and that was it.

Anyhow, I can see App having a similar year to last year. 8-10 wins

It actually was quite common.

The last time it happened, USA and Texas State were both up for a bowl slot. USA got to the committee first. Texas State finished 7-5, USA finished 6-6, but both teams had the same number of FBS wins and USA beat Texas State.

Well, if my arithmetic is right with the info given by the fans here, I guess GSU will go 2-10 with wins over kennesaw and Texas State lol...pass the kool-aid please

My asking the question is to help show State fans with high preseason expectations that fans of every team in the conference believe their team will be better. I think it is true as well as depth, recruiting and coaching is improving for every team. Wins are getting tougher and a 8-4,9-3 season may not be the result of a lack luster coaching staff. State, Troy and App will have a big target on their back.

I can make a case for almost any team in this league making bowl eligibility. Can't blame fans for choosing not to be miserable about football in the off-season.

I get that, but at the same time, i can't help but roll my eyes at the prediction that 8/10 SBC teams will be bowl eligible.

For GSU, i hope for 6+ wins as well but too early to tell

You may be right on that. The gap between top and bottom SBC teams is closing fast. The battle for bowl eligibility will be a series of ugly knife fights.

Happened in back-to-back seasons for us.

6-6 in 2013 in our first year of bowl eligibility then 7-5 in 2014 and didn't get a bowl invite either year. Then we absolutely imploded in 2015 and have been a train wreck ever since. I fully believe being denied a bowl game in back to back years contributed to that decline.

I'd like to see the Cajuns as one of the powerhouse teams once again.

Don’t shed any tears for ULL they’ll be back sooner than you realize.

Most the time they are not that great. They had 4 good years but messed up wth NCAA violations.

Their all time record is 501-549-34

I am not looking forward to what will happen online if App goes 7-5 this season. Plus, I don't think that's happening either. 8-4 should be the floor, 11-1 the ceiling.

Here is how I break it down:

Penn State we have a very low chance of winning. Prove me wrong Neers but for now I call it an L.

Three toss up games on the schedule. Troy, StAte, and Southern Miss. I include Southern Miss in this mainly because of the fact that they are a quality team that we are playing early in the year as we break in a new QB. I say we go 1-2 or 2-1 with these three games. My personal opinion is 1-2 because two of them are early on in the schedule.

The next tier I define as teams we should beat but they're capable of pulling the upset. I include South, UL, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and Coastal in here. I personally believe we will drop one if not two of these. Mainly because I'm being cautious until we know for sure how we will click at QB. I'll be optimistic and say we go 4-1.

Finally the "should be definite" wins for us are Gardner Webb, UNCC, and Texas State.

With that said, I'll move us to 8-4. Ceiling at 10-2 this year in my opinion. I put the floor at 6-6. That would include losses to Penn State, Southern Miss, Troy, StAte, and two losses from the tier I mentioned that included South, UL, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and Coastal.

I'm with you. Way too many question marks at key positions to predict we win more than 8. New QB, Replacing 2 all SunBelt OL, a couple DLs, and 3 outta 4 LBs. Odds just aren't with us to reach 10 again.
To be honest, I'd consider this season a success with a 4th straight bowl appearance and win.
