Kind of interesting that there's a few posters that criticize the ASun, but as one of the smaller conferences, it's had some notable successes the last few years.

The ASun has always been strong in baseball. Numerous current major and minor league players, including some all-stars and some who get votes for the Cy Young award.

Their other notable success has been with men's golf. But other than the brilliant basketball run into the sweet 16 that Gulf Coast had, that's about it.

Guys, the Asun is a bad conference. Glad that experiment is over.

I wouldn't call the ASun a bad conference. I would call it a hotel conference - some place to stay while you get a more permanent home prepared. It was an option that ETSU had (maybe the only one) without football, but it wasn't a good fit. The experience in the ASun provided some of the motivation to the powers-that-be and fanbase to get football back and find a better conference home.

It is/was all those things...

At the top of the conference, in some sports, it remains quite good. At the middle, it’s just not very good. At the bottom, it’s near D-2 quality and very, very bad.... very hard to watch those teams. And a “hotel conference” for some schools is spot-on; the Florida schools have the mentality that they are stuck, and they will continue to be stuck till they figure out a way forward.

What a shame. Jacksonville in particular should be much better than they are. It’s hard to believe they made it to the championship game in men’s basketball in my lifetime.

Stetson and Tenn Tech have made it to the final 16 in the super regionals. Hope to see the Bucs team in the super regionals one day.
