Houston - 33
Memphis 18

Confidence rating - 7.5

Memphis has not really looked good (on paper) ... They have blown out a 1aa team, played another 1aa caliber team REALLY close, beaten a very bad SEC team, and lost to thier only decent competition.

The coogs on the other hand haven't exactly set the world on fire either. Last year I think we thought a little too highly of ourselves, due to our schedule inflated record. I think this year we'll be ready.

edit: I rated Arkansas St. as 1aa caliber

I have noticed very little talk on the memphis board about playing us ... I wonder does this mean that we are being overlooked ... to quote Coach Briles:
Quote:"If you all were on the same date, same time and same field that we were on last year as a football team, then we're not feeling like did a whole lot to earn respect. We've been granted another opportunity (against Memphis), so we'll see what we can do with it."

Got to earn it on the field!!!!

Yep Saturday is about earning respect. Even though we lost to Miami last week, I think that we have purged ourselved of our loss to them in 1990. Our program is at the jump off and it starts on Saturday!!!

We're not looking past any teams at this point. Memphis fans just tend to get more excited over the bigger rivalry teams. And it looks like UAB and USM will most likely become the biggest rivals next year with the exit of cincy and l'ville. ( at least in football )

As for me, I'd prefer Houston over UAB all day long. Heck, your city is named after a TN Governor 04-rock

As for basketball, things may get pretty ugly next year. Memphis will most likely have the top recruiting class in the nation. And I don't see any cusa teams coming close to challenging them.
Calipari has already put together what most agree is the toughest OOC schedule for this year, so I'd look for the same thing next year.

Heh I like everyone's confidence for tomorrow though. Good luck to your boys

04-cheers

Whew...this game sure got ugly in a hurry for you! Deangle Willams nearly outgained your entire offense by HIMSELF.

Where was that potent Houston offense we had heard so much about. 1 offensive TD??

Back to the drawing board for you. We won the Ark State game in a really short amount of time, but we won by 12, not two or three.

And on what basis do you rate Ark State a 1aa team? Before Memphis, they played nothing but top 25 teams. Georgia and Missouri, I believe.

No we are still here. Most of us are just ashamed to show aour faces. From the look of things, this game was a repeat of last years game.

As for your question about where is the offense, that is something that we have been wondering as well.

Can someone who was at the game tell me how did we handlke your blitz. I know last year you killed us. was is the same this year?

Your O did not do very well picking up the blitz and big Albert Means caused some big problems up front for you guys. He altered quite a few plays. Our secondary picked it up a notch and only made a couple of mistakes and gave good coverage most of the day. The real key was Deangelo Williams. You had no answer for him defensively. He simply had an outstanding day to say the least and he entered the game determined to bust loose. Kolb is a good QB but he took a few good hits and our D-plan simply confused him and your O all day long. You guys have a tough turnaround now - USM on Thursday???
