POTUS campaigning for candidates
As road closures kick off here in Nashville it got me wondering what your thoughts are on the use of tax payer money for POTUS and the traveling circus that it takes to move/secure him to travel around to campaign for candidates. I have always thought it was a ridiculous use of resources regardless of who is in office.

Road closures would be the best thing to happen to the current cluster known as Nashville traffic.

I woke up this morning with a smile on my face because the beautiful time of year known as schools out for summer began today. My hour+ commute dropped down to 30 minutes this morning

So rather than the roads being close to impossible to navigate they are completely innavigable. I used to love Nashville, but that was back in the late 70's when I lived there. Now it's simply a plastic fantastic concoction, a contrived city completely devoid of any authenticity. This is why I prefer Memphis, we aren't cosmopolitan but we are damn sure authentic.

RE: POTUS campaigning for candidates
I will say that Trump campaigning for Republican candidates is slightly different than Obama doing the same.

Reason being - Obama wasn't in the midst of a deep state coup attempt during his presidency. Trump needs to keep the power on the right side of the aisle, lest the deep state would run wild without any barriers.

Truth. I was in Nashville this past weekend for the U2 concert at Bridgestone. We arrived late afternoon and parked downtown, and headed to Broadway for a beer. The table next to us at the bar had puke on it at 4 pm. Thankfully a guy cleaned it up shortly after we were seated.

About an hour later we got an uber and high-tailed it to the Vandy area for pre-show dinner so we wouldn't be inundated with pedal pubs & bachelorette parties.

This pretty much sums up Nashville these days: https://www.buzzfeed.com/annehelenpeters....beBwyNv3k

My work involves bars and restaurants and I spend a lot of time downtown. It really has become a lot worse in recent years. It's always been a tourist trap, but it really has become a hell hole down there. On the flip side, when I was living/working in Memphis Beale St. has its own problems. It's generally best to just stay away from those areas.

For sure any touristy "party" district has issues, but like you said, it's a whole other level in Nashville. They can't handle the foot traffic, the car traffic, and now they've thrown pedal pub traffic/flatbed "party trailers" pulled by John Deere tractors in the mix. It's just ridic.

I really wish they would take the MPD approach. Just close the damn road off on the weekends
