A couple passing mentions to an "Alliance" there. Now that is intriguing.

My God Wilbon went in on the change. I don't think it deserves that much hate. He's arguing that it'll get people fired because they're on the bubble of the top pod. What he's omitting is that those people will still have a chance to make it after the tournament. If this truly does not impact the selection committee (and I don't think it will) then it really doesn't impact the potential of teams in the 2nd pod from getting in.

I like it because it adds (theoretically) good conference games to the end of the schedule.

clt is shocked Wilbon didn’t devert the discussion towards how great the nba is, and how bad the nfl is,

That's because Wilbon comes from a conference, the Big10 that may have one of their bids cut if CUSA takes a 2nd bid. But then Wilbon probably doesn't have to worry about his school Nothwestern, since they have only made the NCAAs 1 time, and that was 2017.

This seems designed to put a second team into the Big Dance, perhaps at the expense of teams 3-5. Harsh, but maybe not a bad approach to clearing this hurdle.

Until our bottom feeders improve greatly we have no chance of getting more than two team in anyway.

Not going to name schools but they know who they are. Some schools in this conference have no desire to put money into basketball. Some of them see it just as they would see Volleyball or T&F. Its there just to fill in the hole.

You know as well as I do there is only one way to fix the problem and well I don't see that happening anytime soon. So this right now is the best option and if it works or not is yet to be seen. But as Ive said, it will make them move the goal posts again at least.

Wonder if some of your smart numbers people could figure up how much different MTSU/WKUs RPI would have been last year had we had this in place?

But presuming that the top pod contains the top five RPI teams (or at least four of the five), even if you only go 2-2 or 1-3, you still strengthen your NIT credentials by having more Quadrant 1/2 games. Nobody wants to go to the NIT when there's a much better option, but at the same time CUSA also needs to do what they can to get multiple NIT teams in as well. For the quality of the top programs in this league, four teams between the two tournaments should be the goal, and after a while, the floor.
