RE: Promote the friendly rivalry
We have 2 incredible coaches running our 2 revenue generating sports.

Both are feeding off one another.

The Memphis Brand is cool and they both are working to make our University better.

Just keep reeling in the 4 Stars and all is good in TigerLand.

Show how they are trying to one up each other with recruiting.

Promote them both together in the public eye.

Get them out there front and center so the local recruits and fans can identify with them personally.
I really don't think they would consider it a rivalry. It is just two very good coaches trying to improve their teams for the University of Memphis. I think the football players have attended basketball games and the basketball players have attended football games. We are one united university with all of our sports teams both men and women.
GO TIGERS !!!!!!!!

I think the OP's choice of words was poor, but the concept is somewhat sound.

A commercial where Penny / Norvell are constantly doing cool things (not recruiting, just more and more implausible neat crap) and the commercial ends with them both doing something equally cool might be funny.

Having said that, probably hard to pull off and might accidentally hit the wrong note.

Still, I've heard worse ideas...

Let’s promote their SYNERGY!

I’m amazed at how closed minded some people are on here. The seasons largely don’t overlap, and promoting both together keeps them in the public eye even when they are out of season. He said friendly rivalry - not turn them into enemies.

I get the idea, I just think it's kinda lame, at least promoting the rivalry part of it.

If you want to do some joint promos, that seems like a good idea. I could see Penny and Norvell in a commercial talking about the great strides the UofM is making.

I also like the idea of Penny promoting football, encouraging support for the hometown team on the gridiron and Norvell doing the same for basketball.

I would just stay away from the rivalry part of it.

How about a FEF concession stand match between the two? Mustard slinging, pickle jug throwing, popcorn tossing.

Same here, package them but we've had had overt and undertones of rivalry between the BB folks and FB folks for decades. They could most likely come up with some cute promos with some give and take but I think there is more mileage in focusing on strengths instead of playing to gimmicks.

These two have enough energy and personality to charm the entire city. Get them more exposure outside of just sports media. We could lock down this city with their personailities.
