Looking at the current radar in Biloxi and the weather forecast the next two days, this is what I think makes the most sense.

First off, while there may be some more delays today, I do think they'll get the two elimination games in. So if that's the case, after today there will be four teams remaining - undefeated Rice and a 1-loss Louisiana Tech or Florida Atlantic team in one bracket, and undefeated USM and a 1-loss UTSA or Charlotte in the other bracket.

I think they should go to single elimination starting tomorrow and also try to play all 3 games tomorrow. As far as Rice goes, we aren't making the NCAA tournament without winning the conference tournament and I just think moving everything up to Saturday just makes it more of a possibility that we get the tournament finished. USM on the other side is in the NCAA's already so they probably don't care if they end up taking away their safety blanket (an extra loss). Who cares about Sunday's TV on the CBS Sports Network? Worse comes to worse, they can replay the championship game from Saturday night and no one would probably know the difference.

It's possible that forcing teams to play two games Saturday helps the teams that haven't thrown as many pitchers yet, so maybe Rice and USM get a bit of a break. But at the same time, my suggestion is taking away the double elimination format starting tomorrow so you're also penalizing Rice and USM a bit as well. In Rice's case, our Wednesday starter was probably going to start Sunday if things work out that way. So moving up the championship to Saturday throws a wrench in those plans.

If weather delays things Saturday (rain is an issue tomorrow too), then perhaps they can suspend things Saturday night and finish things up Sunday morning. But there is no reason to keep people in Biloxi any later than necessary with a projected Monday landfall from Alberto.
