In North Carolina, parts of South Carolina and Virginia, there's Harris Teeter which survives as an independent subsidiary of Kroger's because of their customer service.

My wife was boycotting Publix long before they capitulated to these Marxist extortionists, and it was because their customer service sucks.

I didn;t shop there because their meat department sucks donkey balls.

Besides, since Lowe's Grocery opened here the two Publix stores are ghost towns. Similar prices, bigger selection and far better service. Plus they have a bar where you can get a cold beer to enjoy while you shop.

I was within walking distance of a Harris Teeter when I was in Charlottesville. Great store with a great beer selection.

Lowe's Grocery is solid. When we are at Ocean Isle there is one just on the mainland that i like.

Maybe its because im in the burbs and our Publix is staffed by kids who give a damn.
