RE: Colleges and Universities School Debts Can Lead To Closures And Forced Realignment
With the coronvairus going around right now, and many schools are shut down for it. Officials are looking at this to be 18 months before this virus runs the course? We might see many of the smaller private schools close down. We could see some at the D1 levels going bye bye. We could see schools like Wheeling and Iowa Wesleyan shut down sooner along with Bacone. Presbyterian, Davidson and Bethune-Cookman could be the ones at the D1 level to go down.

This virus could pose an existential threat to large swathes of society. Small schools and their athletic programs could be the least of it.

Why would you mention a college with a billion dollar endowment and wealthy enough alumni that they could double/triple that in a flash if the college was truly in trouble.

Because his endgame is to eradicate Davidson before they steal attention from soon-to-be-open David State. COVID19 is a criticial component of his master plan to fasttrack David State to D1 greatness.

Endowment is not figured into this because even some billion dollar businesses could disappeared. With the lack of students, alumni could die from this virus, and other things to figured into this. Some schools already shut down who had close to a $100 million endowments. This plague of the COVID-19 would disrupt colleges and universities big time. There is a difference between Davidson and USC. Which one would survive after 18 months?

Both. You have no clue about Davidson, which is not surprising.

Davidson has all the students it wants. It could become the size of USC if it wanted to. It doesn't. Just like Rice. No desire to be huge. That's there niche, and it works great for them.

You will see Arkansas Tech, Colorado Mines, Upper Iowa and the rest of your DII fantasy call ups close before Davidson.

Sad. I guess having a bloated D3 football roster didn't bring in enough tuition and room and board?

This one hits home. My Mom taught classes there back in the 70's, and my brother got his nursing degree from MacMurray

Just to be clear - MacMurray College -Jacksonville, Illinois, is not to be confused with McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. The Abilene school is supported by the Methodist Church. Hal Mumme was head FB coach there for several years.

Ah, I never heard of Holy Family but I recognized Silver Lake. They've played Chicago St at the Jones Convocation Center before. School changed its name last summer apparently.

Akron cutting six of its eleven colleges. Which ones, at this point, is unknown. They have the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Applied Science and Technology, the College of Business Administration, the College of Engineering, the College of Health Professions, the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, the Graduate School, the School of Law, the LeBron James Family Foundation College of Education, the Williams Honors College and the Wayne College campus in Orrville. The move is expected to save $65-$70 million.
