This kid comes from a high school that has a high pedigree for basketball. The teams have been coached for decades by the Harris family. All kinds of good players have come out of Ocean View. How he arrived in the burg is a good question. I’m glad he’s there.

That is a quote from the blog on the signing not Shaver or the school. The commitment seems solid, but officially no word on a signing. I wouldn't sweat it. Personally I feel like the signing is done and the hold up is a finalized release from tribe athletics once the grad transfer efforts are exhausted.

Pretty skeptical of his height actually being 6'9". ESPN and 24/7 both have him at 6'6" and Verbal Commits has him at 6'8". That 6-9 seems a bit embellished, and it would be fairly surprising to see a 6'9" player who has any skill at all still on the market at the mid major level at this time in the recruiting cycle. 6'6" makes much more sense.

Depth is always welcome and the kid's stats suggest he works hard on both ends of the floor. I will say that 6' 9" isn't typically tall enough to dominate down low, but with his extra wingspan, perhaps he can be a pretty effective/high rebound power forward (I'm thinking in the mold of JJ Hickson and Knight).

Owen is still the player that I find most intriguing.

ESPN and 247 are not accurate/up to date sites in following basketball recruiting these days. I'd guess that 6'8" would be a closer match, unless he starts up with a little Nathan spike hairstyle, then we can move him to 6'10"

Harvey is young for his class and could still be growing.

He'll need to grow those fingernails, so, we can get his wingspan up to 7'5"

No idea what the source of info is, but the latest listing I found was his 1st team all LA selection from a couple of weeks ago. Listed him at 6'9 with 7'3" wingspan.

As a comparison, Harvey's teammate Paul Head is 6'2. In highlights he appears much more than 4" shorter.

If Head is 6'2", doesn't that make him 7 inches shorter???

My only point was that, IMO, Harvey looks a legit 6'9. The accounts of his wingspan and his ability to shoot lightning seems to vary.

That Burzell kid looks a lot like Greg Burzell who played for the Tribe. Any chance they are related?
