I agree. Two P5 games plus Army and App State. Throw in our first bowl game opponent (and first bowl win) Georgia Southern and solid MAC and C-USA schools. I don't know how anyone could argue FCS is better than this schedule.

RE: FUTURE FOOTBALL SCHEDULES
Is there a conspiracy why we can’t schedule an AAC game? Are we avoiding them or are they avoiding us? (Yes, I realize we just added UCF.)

Purely a guess but I think they are asking for 2-1 or buy games because they fancy themselves as a power conference instead of a G5 conference and won't stoop to a home-home with little Liberty.

An alternative could be that we don't want to schedule them because those games would be almost as difficult as a P5 game but less respect if we won and we'd rather attempt at racking up as many wins in our early years to build a winning program. Playing the Sun Belt, C-USA, and MAC gives us the best shot at wins plus our P5 games against the ACC.

I think it's likely both of these.

These seem like very likely scenarios. Maybe a few 3-4 more winning seasons and bowl victories will give us more solid footing. I’d really dig playing most of those teams.

RE: FUTURE FOOTBALL SCHEDULES
Liberty and Coastal Carolina added three additional games to the series with a road game in 2027 (at Conway, S.C. on Sept. 18) and home games in 2028 (Oct. 14) and 2029 (Sept. 29).

Always good to play the Beach Chickens.

UAB? They have a good program, but I think we can beat them. Possibly can beat Syracuse and make a miracle upset. I make this observation based on strong motivation from this season and the hunger to continue what they finished. Plus a good amount of the 2021 class signees coming in as early enrollees for the spring semester.

RE: FUTURE FOOTBALL SCHEDULES
I think Ole Miss and Lafayette will be the two toughest but at least UL-L is home. Army is likewise usually tough and UAB has been winning C-USA.

Other fans tell us that it will get harder. We have schedules full for the next several years though that doesn't stop someone else from cancelling on us.

I think we'll have a hard time scheduling the schools that need as many OOC wins to get bowl eligible as possible. We may find it easier to schedule the schools that want a boost to their SoS but can't get a P5 to play against them. And for the schools just looking for a payday, we'll continue to schedule them. The American is where we have a lot of room for growth as we don't really have any games scheduled with them and they want to be a P6. Beating us at our 2020 level would help with their perception.

I would love to see NCSU and Liberty play again. 2026 NCSU will need a home game since they have only Florida and @Vandy. Liberty would be a perfect fit to go along with the FCS game likely to be scheduled in Raleigh. Looking at NCSU Schedule, it now goes far out that I have to wonder if I will be around to watch. 03-wink

I think Liberty and NC State could develop a little rivalry if they could somehow play more often. This season had a classic game that probably made NC State sweat while ruining Liberty's perfect season.

I kind of feel like NC State is a little like an outsider in the ACC now, how Maryland was before they left. Instead of being treated like a founding member, NC State gets marginalized by the "important" schools. So while NC State would want to be rivals with UNC, Clemson, and other classic opponents, it is not entirely reciprocated (UNC has Duke and Virginia, Clemson has Florida State and South Carolina, etc.). The ACC is a collection of diverse schools with different characteristics and it hurts more than it helps. Like the SEC, Big Ten, and Pac 12 are all built with similar institutions, the ACC is very different with it's membership. I think NC State would flourish if they could get out of the ACC to another P5 conference.

Was your 2023 visit to Huntington canceled/rescheduled? I’m genuinely asking. I hadn’t heard if it has.
