They would be at 16, and there would probably be a lot more money in it for the networks and the Big 12 if they can make it happen. The sweet deal ESPN has with our current contract won't me the same with the 3 schools out of it. There is no longer financial incentive to keep it in force.

In the end, I can't for one minute imagine that we are going to build an OCS if we aren't sure that we do NOT have a $2 million/team TV deal in our future.

This is me...and I would LOVE to be proven wrong here, but I think the Big 12 dream died with the expansions the first go around. I know they keep saying there will be more but I don't see it happening.

I've said all along that there is a decent chance that the B12 keeps dangling the carrot just to keep the AAC and the MWC from merging/creating a new conference that could be just as strong as the Leftover Big 12. And it worked pretty well keeping Boise, AFA, et al from joining the AAC. The possibility of Memphis, SMU leaving the AAC - combined with the possibility of Boise getting a 2nd round invite - is exactly why that didn't happen.

But I am choosing to go with glass half full, and believe that there is still a chance at an expanded B12.

Sounds like SMU stadium, which I really like. The small footprint and great site lines for everyone.

Furthermore, if the university is going out on its own, why would it be bothered with the future of the LB? That makes no sense at all.

I don't know - so don't make assumptions.
In fact, after years of disappointment regarding stadium planning, I'm skeptical - I expect LBMS improvements.
But I also know a pat answer when I see one.

We build a new stadium, I’m getting 4 season tickets the next day (even if I don’t get to use them that often).
