Tennessee vs Texas
Read the article in the CA talking about Memphis economy growth showing a slight negative year over year growth. But Nashville having 33% growth. I’ve lived in Texas for 13 years now. This would never happen in Texas. Texas promotes all of its cities and their growth. Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Lubbock...heck, even Tyler, TX is booming. There’s no jealousy/animosity between cities. No one turns their noses up at the other. Tennessee however seems to favor middle to East Tennessee and if you are Jackson and westward, eff off, you ain’t getting no help. I point to the state helping Nashville getting that behemoth loop I 840 around it’s outer metro area. It’s so large and out of the way that it benefits Nashville proper zero percent.yet the state put the axe on funding the completion of I69 through Memphis. Looking from a distance at how Nashville is treated vs Memphis is embarrassing for our state. 3 cities in the same state only 3 hours from each other shouldn’t have such a vast difference in economic growth over the course of 3 decades. State leadership should be ashamed and Memphis leadership should be ashamed for letting it happen.

Our state politics has turned into am embarrassing sh*tshow over the past ten-fifteen years.
Red shift is very real and threatening.

red·shift
ˈredˈSHift/Submit
nounASTRONOMY
noun: red shift; noun: red-shift
the displacement of spectral lines toward longer wavelengths (the red end of the spectrum) in radiation from distant galaxies and celestial objects. This is interpreted as a Doppler shift that is proportional to the velocity of recession and thus to distance.

It's also the phenomenon of Tennessee having much more conservative leadership than is reflective of its population.

Nashville has always been helped and coddled along. And being the state capital just puts a cherry on top for them. Memphis hurts itself because half the population is under educated.
But about that I-69, it should have been rejected. No need for two interstate systems parallel to each other by twenty miles. Colossal waste of tax money.

Total BS on your part.
Tennessee is a conservative state and that's just something you're gonna have to come to terms with. Sorry to hurt your feelings.

This really belongs in the PR forum,
but roughly 30% voted Democrat in the last election.
There's currently less than 20% Democrat representation in the State Legislature.
You are both correct?

Yep and that prejudice has revealed ignorance about difficulties in understanfing what it takes for a border city like Memphis to compete against Mississippi incentives. At least one gubernatorial candidate from middle TN has indicated he didn't appreciate what Memphis had to deal with.

Yes, 69 & 55 run a little parallel as it gets closer to Memphis. That’s true for any major city as 2 interstates begin their angle in. But they split off eventually as they head their own directions. Just look at interstate 35 & 45 in Texas. Very close to each other, yet both are heavily travelled and needed. I’d even argue that it’s time to explore turning U.S. 72 into an extension for I 30. There can never be too many interstates.

I remember some years ago a lot of Memphians voted for East Tennessean Bob Corker over Memphis' Harold Ford, Jr. Don't know why you would not want a local as your Senator.

Most democrats in East Tennessee voted for Harold Ford Jr. ,who supposedly lived 400 miles way , Why did they not want their local boy Corker as their Senator?

You need to do more research before spouting off ..........
Tennessee Highway 385 & I-269 share signage & I-269 splits off when they converge with Poplar Ave. & it heads down into Marshall & then Desoto County MS.
Not parallel with with I-55 at all as from right above Hernando they share the same highway.
TN 385 & I-269
.

269 is awesome, i use it every day, pretty sure posted speed is around 120 mph, so stay in the right lane if you're a normal driver
