Personal, regarding Lamar
If you will, allow me to brag a little on Coach Josh Jones. Assuming he does not get lured into a last-minute career change into administration (he has his Master's degree), and assuming the team doesn't have a train wreck, my son-in-law should notch a couple of very significant milestones this coming football season.

First of all, his fourth win next season will be #100. That is an important milestone. It is not remarkable in itself, since quite a few coaches have done it, other than the fact that he took over a program at Magazine that was at the absolute bottom of the curve. It took him three years to notch his first five wins. But they went from 0-10 in 2005 to 14-0 in 2010. Magazine has had only one winning season since he left.

Second, with his 6th win this season at Lamar he will become the winningest coach in Lamar history, giving him that distinction at two different schools. That is very difficult to do, and accordingly you do not see it very often.

Needless to say we are very proud of the young man. But speaking as a father and grandfather, I am much prouder of him in what he has done off the field. He has done it the right way. And on top of everything else, during his coaching career he has served two hitches pounding sand in the Middle East as a member of the Air Guard.

So, keep an eye on I-40 football this season. There are some stories going on behind the scenes.

Great story. A lot to be proud of. Thanks for posting.
