Louisville & Jurich reach a settlement
The University of Louisville has reached a settlement with former AD Tom Jurich. The settlement is for $4.5 million & his file will reflect that he was terminated without cause as a result of his resignation. Postel termination letter has been removed from his record as well. IMO, this is what should have happened originally.

"I have spent the better part of my career working with a dedicated team of athletes, coaches, and staff to elevate the University of Louisville's Athletic Department and I am proud of what we accomplished which is well documented," Jurich said in a statement.

The decision to approve a settlement was made the same week U of L President Neeli Bendapudi officially assumed the school's top leadership post from Greg Postel, who served as interim president when Jurich and Pitino were fired.

"Everyone is pleased that this matter has been successfully resolved," Louisville board of trustees chairman J. David Grissom said in a statement. "All parties can move forward to begin the next chapter."

Jurich's termination and the fallout have been contentious.

Postel sent Jurich a scathing termination letter last October, which Jurich's legal team from the Frost Brown Todd law firm called an "after-the-fact effort to justify an unwarranted termination" with allegations that attempted to smear his reputation. That letter will be excluded from Jurich's personnel file as part of Friday's settlement.

In all, Jurich will receive a whopping $7.17 million in cash plus many benefits.

Here are the key items Jurich will receive from the settlement:

—A core settlement payment of $4.5 million.

—No less than $911,000 from Jurich’s Deferred Compensation Plan and another $1.76 million to be paid out over the next eight years.

—Medical coverage from U of L for both Jurich and his wife.

—Seat licenses for eight club tickets and two parking passes for Louisville football and basketball games for 20 years.

—The scathing letter that former interim president Greg Postel wrote in which Jurich was referred to as a “bully” has been stricken from the record.

If Postel was that far off, it makes me wonder... should some action be taken against Postel?

Looks like they are on their way. Not knowing the specifics of what went on, it seems to me that Jurich was too trusting and loyal. Those are very good and honorable qualities to have in todays society, but not when you have some crazy things going on under your watch.

It was necessary for Louisville to purge everybody.
Sometimes it is necessary to "throw the baby out with the bath water", in this case, to assure everyone external to Louisville's program that ALL problems have been rectified and won't reoccur.
Good for Louisville for making tough, hard, and necessary decisions.
