HEY! White facades are OUR thing!
All jokes aside, is that really what it will look like? It doesn't seem to match the rest of the stadium or y'all's campus. Don't y'all use lots of brick?
There was a lot of brick used during the 2009 additonl & expansion phase. Tearing down Owens will do away with a lot of it and the brick columns surrounding the ticket plaza will have to be torn down as well. They did use brick around the columns for the new scoreboard, so I'd be surprised if some brick isn't included in the final design. Personally I'd like to see the stone used around campus (see below) incorporated into the design & on the inside walls of the stadium. The building has been getting mixed reviews. IMO it's a little bland, but it's a long way from the finished design.

It looks like the school President is looking into ways to raise the funds for adding 8000 seats to Roos field, and support for upgrading the other sports facilities. Mentioned that Central Washington University is out spending them on upgrades.
TCU's construction on the new east side suites, loge boxes, and club seats begins next week. Will be finished for the 2019 season. Oh, we are also getting a new, larger scoreboard.

This is what got Eastern Washington to get aggressive for a fund drive to get their stadium and facilities upgraded. It seems these two schools are competing with each other to have a better facilities. Could EWU get enough money to expand or build a new stadium that is FBS ready? I know they are an FBS caliber team.

South Alabama's board just approved a new on campus stadium. Capacity 25k, with easy expansion to 40k. Project should be complete by 2020. While the stadium will be on USA's campus, the stadium itself will be a County/City/University joint project with the University putting up much of the initial outlays and the land, and the City/County will be financing much of the debt. That way, there will be no new student fees or tuition based subsidy for the facility. The Go Daddy Bowl has already agreed to move from Ladd. The Senior Bowl should be moving too.

I hope you know that I am talking about EWU as an FBS caliber school? It seems it is a arms race between CWU and EWU in having upgraded facilities right now.

I have no comprehension issues; I know exactly what you meant.
EWU is nowhere close to FBS caliber with a 14–44 all-time record against current FBS teams and they have had an average attendance over 10,000 once in the last 5 years. While Montana average attendance has not been less than 23,000 during the same time frame.
There is no arms race between CWU and EWU. CWU had to do stadium improvements since no significant updates have been done in 60 years. The stadium did not meet WA high school playoff requirements. It had an out-dated dirt track and they didn't even have lights.

Looks perfect for USA. I assume Ladd Field will be torn down or re-purposed.
Ladd is almost 70 years old. Outside of the DG Bowl, the Senior Bowl, and USA football, the facility is only used by 4 Mobile County Public High Schools. Most Mobile County Public Schools use other facilities, and the other 2 public systems in the County don't use it at all. The thinking is....see if the Mobile County Public School system wants Ladd (which would be given to them for free), and if they don't (they don't - it would be cheaper for them to build a small stadium for the 4 schools than to pay the upkeep on such a vast and old stadium) just tear the thing down. There's really not much of a repurposing to do with the property.

If the schools don't want it, what next? Tear it down and build a park? Close it up to rot?
While not a huge parcel, it is large enough to build a decent high school stadium (two I'd think) or build a high school stadium, and a another couple facilities like baseball, softball, and soccer.
EDIT.
I hope Mobile doesn't have to deal with the dumb attitude Little Rock had to fend off with Ray Winder Field. People wanted to save it because it was the third oldest pro baseball stadium confusing old with charming. Ladd-Peebles has some structural value but I really doubt it could be rehabilitated at useful price for anyone who didn't regularly need 40,000 seats.

The smart move is to just tear it down. If the City/County acquires some ownership interest/rights in USAs stadium...theres little use left for the stadium. And the County and City shouldnt be in the business of providing a free place to play for just 4 of the counties football programs. Murphy HS can figure out where to play football.
People who are attacking me in this tread about the arms race between CWU and EWU because EWU president mentioned that they to upgrade their facilities, and mentioned CWU as one of the reasons why.

Well maybe there is an arms race between the schools, obviously we are unaware of it. Please show a link to what the EWU president said so that we can be informed as well. Honestly though; EWU has a nice football stadium, if you ignore the ugly red field, that it is funny that they are worried about what CWU is doing. Considering EWU stadium is already far superior to CWU, I believe it is exaggerating a bit to call it an arms race. EWU will still have a superior stadium in its current condition even after CWU completes their renovations.
Again, CWU is doing major renovations to their stadium for the first time in 60 years. It had an out-dated dirt track, no lights, and no indoor plumbing for the fans. The field turns to mud when it rains and the overall condition of the stadium is so bad that it is not allowed to host WA high school playoff games. The CWU capacity (4,000) is less than half of EWU and if seating is being added during the reno it might reach half of EWU's capacity (8,600).
